Just a note to let you know how things are going since you put me on your program.........
I have felt a powerful surge of joy , clarity, and energy.......also my eyes, which have had severely swollen blood vessels for over a month, have cleared considerably. It is true that my eye doctor took me off the old contact solution and gave me another (on Tue , Jan 29) but he said if that worked, it would NOT be overnight.......Well, my eyes were clear overnight! It must have a great deal to do with your divine program!!! Thank you, thank you!

When I first heard about the program, I was dubious. However, after going to your lecture with dowser in hand, I felt excited and wanted to get on the program; I dowsed several times and got a yes each time. A doctor tested my husband with kinesiology and was told he should go on the program also. Since being on your program our LVI has increased, we need less sleep, have increased vitality and have lowered our biological ages. It’s hard to put into words; it works. Last December 3rd I broke my humorous bone. The surgeon wanted to operate because the break was so serious; I asked for alternative and he said “grow calcium” and gave me one week. I have been on the Energetic Balancing program for 3 years, since its inception. How has it made a difference in my life? I am rarely ill and if I am, my body processes it very quickly. This is true for both physical and emotional issues. My participation in the program has coincided with some major life changes and stresses for me and I am convinced that I have gotten through these times more easily because my energy is constantly being balanced. It's also a good check point for any health changes and shifts, providing a checks and balances system to other things that I do. If I am undergoing some traditional medical tests, I check in with Mony to tell him the results, he checks the energetic component and we discuss causes and instead of symptoms and find the right balance. Also, when doing regular evaluations, if he notices that something is wrong or not functioning properly, he lets me know, before anything would show up using other diagnostic methods, and I can treat the imbalance accordingly. Having long been involved in natural healing methods, this program is a deeper continuation of the belief that all illness comes from systemic energy imbalance, both created by our own ways of dealing with the stresses in our lives, and from outside sources from pollution to change of weather. Either way, it gives us a good read of what's going on and we can each deal with the results in whatever way we choose, hopefully positively. When I first went on the program, I was skeptical; I didn't know anything computerized could affect my life, but I could feel a subtle shift almost immediately. Information for Parasite Cleanses

Parasites are common, but require your commitment and tenacity to clear them from the body. They thrive in an acidic environment and feed on what you ingest, creating a host of imbalances and cravings. Parasites and yeasts are like Siamese twins and are always seen together, making an anti-yeast nutritional program of great importance while doing any parasite cleanse, to prevent you from generating new toxins in the body. This means elimination of wheat, sugar (incl. fruit), dairy, meat and processed products. A diet of predominantly vegetables and small amounts of whole grains (no wheat) is recommended.

It is important that you achieve 2-3 bowel movements before beginning a parasite cleanse. If not you will need to find a good colon cleanser before or during the program. The following gives you information on the acid/alkaline discussion and the importance of an alkaline pH. Please keep in mind the importance of diet, exercise and breath to create more alkalinity. Ask us for a list of alkalizing foods.

 

THE NEW BIOLOGY

Our bodies were designed to be healthy, slender and energetic! We are meant to have smooth, supple skin and a quick, alert mind. Instead we are overweight, tired and sluggish. Why?

  Dr. Robert O. Young’s New Biology, most simply stated, is that the over-acidification of the body is the single underlying cause of all disease. In contrast, the old biology, based on the work of Louis Pasteur in the late 1800’s stems from the idea that disease comes from germs which invade the body from the outside. Dr. Young has found that when the body is in healthy alkaline balance, germs are unable to get a foothold.

Think of your body as a fish tank. Think of the importance of maintaining the integrity of the internal fluids of the body that we “swim” in daily. Imagine the fish in this tank are your cells and organ systems bathed in fluids, which transport food and remove wastes. Now imagine we back up a car and put the tailpipe up against the air intake filter that supplies the oxygen for the water in the tank. The water becomes filled with carbon monoxide, lowering the alkaline pH, creating an acidic pH environment, and threatening the health of the “fish”, your cells and organs.

What if we throw in too much food or the wrong kind of food (acid-producing food like dairy, sugar and animal protein) and the fish are unable to consume or digest it all, and it starts to decompose and putrefy? Toxic acid waste and chemicals build up as the food breaks down, creating more acidic byproducts, altering the optimum alkaline pH. Basically, this is a small example of what we may be doing to our internal fluids everyday. We are fouling them with pollution, smoking, drugs, excessive intake of food, over-consumption of acid-forming foods, and any number of transgressions which compromise the delicate balance of our internal alkaline fluids. Some of us have fish tanks (bodies) that are barely able to support life, yet we somehow manage to struggle from day to day, building more severe imbalances until there is the inevitable crash and debilitating chronic, disturbing and disorganizing symptoms to deal with.

The pH level (the acid-alkaline measurement) of our internal fluids affects every cell in our bodies. Extended imbalances of any kind are not well tolerated by the body. Indeed, the entire metabolic process depends on a balanced internal alkaline environment. A chronically over-acidic pH corrodes body tissue, slowly eating into the 60,000 miles of veins and arteries like acid eating into marble. If left unchecked, it will interrupt all cellular activities and functions, from the beating of your heart to the neural firing of your brain. In summary, over-acidification interferes with life itself leading to all sickness and disease!

 

How do you know if you’re overly acidic?

 

Fat is an Acid Problem!

Perhaps on of Dr. Young’s most well known discoveries is his theory of the cause of overweight. He has shown that fat is actually an over-acidification problem. What does that mean? The body creates fat cells to carry acids away from your vital organs, so these acids literally don’t choke your organs to death. Fat is saving your life! Fat is actually a response from the body to an alarming over-acidic condition. The solution? Alkalize.

What about Underweight?

At the other end of the health spectrum, the yeast and fungus produced within an overly acidic body can feed on your nutrients and reduce the chemical and mechanical absorption of everything you eat by as much as 50%. This causes many people to become excessively thin, which is no healthier than becoming overweight. Without protein, your body cannot rebuild new tissues or produce enzymes, hormones or hundreds of other chemical components necessary for cell energy and organ activity. Fatigue, illness and body weight changes are the results. An underweight person may loose a little more weight as their body chemistry stabilizes. As their body normalizes, they will begin to gain towards their ideal weight.

Healthy bodies are not overweight or underweight. A healthy body naturally maintains its own ideal weight. As alkalizing and oxygenation begins to take place, the body naturally begins to seek its own ideal weight.

  Allergies

The toxins produced within an overly acidic, oxygen deprived body may contribute significantly to what are often called the symptoms of allergy. In addition, the absorption of undigested proteins is a major cause of allergy conditions. The digestive system is weakened, which prevents the total breakdown of amino acids-often causing food allergies. This alone may produce a wide spectrum of severe allergic reactions.

  Fatigue

Fatigue is probably the major symptom or complaint of an overly-acidic body. The toxins produced in an acidic body environment reduce the absorption of protein and minerals, which in turn weakens the body’s ability to produce enzymes and hormones. This also interferes with the reconstruction of cells and other necessary components of energy production. The result is fatigue, poor endurance, an inability to add muscle tone, and general weakness.

  Alkaline Water

One important thing you must learn is to hydrate the body with alkalizing water. Like the earth on which we live, our bodies are 70% water. Food cravings are often the body’s cry for water. A thirst for water will begin as on begins to hydrate with water. A diet high in acid foods such as meat, dairy, grains, high sugar fruits and bread, causes acid wastes to build up in the body. When acid wastes enter our blood stream, the blood system will attempt to dispose of these wastes in liquid form through the lungs or kidneys. If there are too many wastes to handle, they are deposited in various organ systems like the heart, pancreas, liver, colon an other locations. The breakdown of this disposal process of acid waste could also be called “the aging process”. To slow down and reverse this process, one must begin by removing the over-acidification of the blood and tissues by including liberal amounts of alkaline water in the diet. Alkaline water has a pH between 9 and 11, and will neutralize harmful stored acid wastes and gently remove them from the tissues.

Liver and Gallbladder Flush

  What You Will Need

  ½ cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Cold Pressed)

1 Large Grapefruit (or 3 lemons)

4 Tablespoon Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulphate)

3 cups water

2 Pint Jars w/lid

  Choose a day like Saturday for the cleanse, or one where you can rest the next day. You will need to be near a bathroom for the flush.

  Take no medicines, vitamins or pills that you can do without; they could prevent success. Stop any parasite program or kidney herbs the day before.

  Eat a simple, preferably alkalizing (salad, steamed veggies, fruit, baked potato) no-fat breakfast and lunch (no milk or butter). This allows bile to build up and develop pressure in the liver. Higher pressure pushes out more stones.

  Do not eat or drink (a little water is ok) after 2 o’clock . If you break this rule you could feel quite ill later or prevent success.

  Sometime before 6:00 , prepare your Epsom salts. Mix the 4 Tbls. and 3 cups water in a jar and shake vigorously to dissolve salts. This makes 4 servings ¾ cup each. Set aside, you can refrigerate if desired.

  6:00 PM

  Drink one ¾ cup serving of the Epsom salts. This will cause a laxative effect and open the bile ducts. You may also add 1/8 tsp. powdered vitamin C to improve the taste. You may also drink a few mouthfuls of water afterwards or rinse your mouth. Get out the olive oil and grapefruit to warm up.

  8:00 PM

  Have another ¾ cup serving of Epsom salts. You haven’t eaten since two o’clock , but you shouldn’t feel hungry. Get your bedtime chores done & be ready for bed. The timing is critical for success; don’t be more than 10 minutes early or late.

  9:45 PM

  Pour ½ cup olive oil into jar (measured). Squeeze grapefruit by hand into measuring cup. Remove pulp with a fork. You should have at least ½ cup juice, up to ¾ cup is best. You may top it with lemon juice.

Add this to olive oil. Close lid tightly and shake until watery (only fresh grapefruit does this).

  Now visit the bathroom one or more times, even if it makes you late for your ten o’clock drink. Don’t be more than 15 minutes late.

  10:00 PM

  Drink the potion you have mixed. You can take 4 ornithine capsules with the first sips to make sure you will sleep through the night. Take 8 if you suffer from insomnia. Most people won’t need this. Drinking through a large plastic straw helps it go down easier. Some like the taste of this mixture! Take it to your bedside of you want, but drink it standing up. Get it down within 5 minutes (15 minutes for weak or elderly persons).

  Lie down immediately. You might fail to get stones out if you don’t. The sooner you lie down, the more stones you will get out. Be ready for bed ahead of time. Don’t clean up the kitchen. As soon as the drink is down, walk to your bed and lie down flat on your back with your head up high on the pillow. You can also lie on your right side. Try to think about what is happening in the liver and keep still for at least 20 minutes. You may feel a train of stones traveling along the bile ducts like marbles. There is no pain or discomfort because the bile duct valves are open (thanks to the Epsom salts!). Go to sleep. You may fail to get stones out if you don’t.

  Next Morning.

  Upon awakening take your third dose of Epsom salts. If you have indigestion or nausea, wait until it is gone before drinking the Epsom salts. You may go back to bed. Don’t take this drink before 6:00 AM .

  2 Hours Later

  Take your fourth & last drink of  ¾ cup Epsom salt mixture. You may go back to bed.

  After 2 more hours you may eat. Start with fresh fruit juice. Half an hour later eat fruit. One hour later you may eat regular food, but keep it light. By supper you should feel recovered.

  How Well Did You Do?

  Expect diarrhea in the morning. Use a flashlight to look for gallstones in the toilet with the bowel movement. Look for the green kind since this is proof that they are genuine gallstones, not food residue. Only bile from the liver is pea green. The bowel movement sinks but gallstones float because of the cholesterol inside. Count them all roughly, whether tan or green. You will need to total 2,000 stones before the liver is clean enough to rid you of allergies or bursitis or upper back pains permanently. The first cleanse may rid you of them for a few days, but as the stones from the rear travel forward, they give you the same symptoms again. You may repeat cleanses at two week intervals. Never cleanse when you are ill.

HPS editors note:  When I did my first Dr. Clarks liver cleanse I immediately dropped over 200 pea size green and tan stones, and when I examined them I was shocked. They crushed in my fingers and what I found was pure fat, pure cholesterol, hundreds of them. Also in my second liver cleanse I had the same experience.

Sometimes, the bile ducts are full of cholesterol crystals that did not form into round stones. They appear as “chaff” floating on the top of the toilet water. It may be tan colored, harboring millions of tiny white crystals. Cleansing this chaff is just as important as purging the stones.

How safe is the liver cleanse? It is very safe. My opinion is based on over 500 cases, including many persons in their seventies and eighties. None went to the hospital; none even reported pain. However, it can make you feel quite ill for one or two days afterwards, although in every one of these cases the maintenance parasite program had been neglected. This is why the instructions direct you to complete the parasite and kidney rinse program first.

You can’t clean a liver with living parasites in it. You won’t get many stones, and you will feel quite sick. Zap daily the week before and complete the parasite killing program before attempting a liver cleanse. If you are on the maintenance parasite program, you are always ready to do the cleanse. Completing a kidney cleanse before cleansing the liver is also highly recommended. You want your kidneys, bladder and urinary tract in top condition so they can efficiently remove any undesirable substances absorbed from the intestine as the bile is being excreted.

The Mechanism of the Liver/Gallbladder Flush

 

1.     Olive oil stimulates bile productions in the liver.

 

2.     Bile has to flow down to the gallbladder.

 

3.     Lemon or grapefruit juice contracts the gallbladder

 

4.     Bile in the gallbladder serves as a lubricant and provides pressure to push out stones when the gallbladder contracts

 

5.     Epsom salts relax the bile duct (if you choose to use them).

 

In essence, you squeeze the stones out. However, a congested liver usually results in sluggish bile flow, which can cause sleep problems or nausea and will reduce the effectiveness of the gallbladder flush. If the problem is severe enough, the gallbladder flush may not even work at all because not enough bile will flow into the gallbladder to provide pressure to push out the stones. A decongested liver is essential for a good gallbladder flush.

You can't clean a liver with living parasites in it. You won't get out many stones, and will feel quite sick. If you have a Zapper (see Dr. Hulda Clarkes’ website), zap daily the week before, or get through the first three weeks of a parasite killing program before attempting a liver cleanse. If you are on a parasite maintenance program, do a high dose program the week before.

Completing the kidney cleanse before cleansing the liver is also recommended. You want your kidneys, bladder and urinary tract in top working condition so they can efficiently remove any undesirable substances incidentally absorbed from the intestine as the bile is being excreted.

 

The Cause of Gallstones  (from Richard Anderson, ND)

Gallstones are formed when there is a deficiency of organic sodium in the body. Sodium deficiency is usually caused by a high protein diet, eating too many acid-forming foods, great emotional stress, or a combination of these conditions. Eating high acid foods, such as proteins in meat, dairy and grains, causes large amounts of acids to enter our bodies. Medically speaking, sodium is used up by the body through the sodium bicarbonate buffer system in the process of neutralizing these acids.

It is imperative to understand the difference between organic and inorganice sodium. Organic sodium comes from the plant kingdom and is a free sodium, unattached to chloride. Inorganic sodium (table salt) comes from rock and is extremely harmful to metabolic function. Sodium chloride (table salt), whether it be rock salt or sea salt, cannot be used by the body! It is extremely harmful and actually requires the use of organic sodium to protect the body from its effects. The reason that people sometimes feel better when taking these table salts is because of the stimulation these poisons cause in the system. The same effect may be seen when eating sugar, coffee and meat. People seem to feel better as they deteriorate faster.

My studies indicate that due to high protein consumption in America, it is likely that most Americans have gallstones. After you do a Gallbladder flush, you will know for sure if you have been eating too much protein, or too much acid-forming food.

       Some people appear to have an almost pathological emotional attachment to their cell phones and there is a fascinating suggestion that cell radiation pulses might actually be addictive to the human brain.. We can't save those who would rather die than switch. But ethics compelled us to ensure that all reasonable people have access to the basic scientific facts.

Your cell phone is a microwave transmitter and it should bear a cancer warning! Microwave energy oscillates at millions to billions of cycles per second. The Journal of Cellular Biochemistry reports that these frequencies cause cancer and other diseases by interfering with cellular DNA and its repairmechanisms. Microwave promotes rapid cell aging. Italian scientists have recently demonstrated that cell phone radiation makes cancerous cells grow aggressively. Cordless phones marked 900 megahertz or 2.4 gigahertz emit the same dangerous microwave radiation as cell phones.

The connection between microwave exposure and cancer has been documented for years. During the Cold War, the Soviets irradiated the U.S. Embassy in Moscow , Russia , with low level, twin-beam microwave radiation. Two successive ambassadors developed leukemia. Other staffers also developed cancer, or their blood showed DNA damage, which precedes cancer.

Research by University of Washington professor Dr. Henry Lai shows brain cells are clearly damaged by microwave levels far below the U.S. government's "safety" guidelines. Dr. Lai notes that even tiny doses of radio frequency can cumulate over time and lead to harmful effects. He warns that pub! lic exposure to radiation from wireless transmitters "should be limited toæminimal."

Motorola advises consumers to avoid pointing a cellular antenna toward exposed parts of the body. But independent tests show that cell phones can also leak huge amounts of radiation from the keypad and mouthpiece. This radiation deeply penetrates brain, ear and eye tissues, which are especially susceptible to microwave damage. Belt clip cases allow cell phones to deliver radiation to the liver or kidney areas when a wired, hands-free earpiece is used.

Recent studies confirm that cell and cordless phone microwave can:

       In 1993, the telecom industry committed $25 million dollars for a series of research projects designed to prove that cell phones are safe. The studies proved just the opposite! They proved that federal microwave exposure standards are dangerously inadequate. Cell damage and tumors can be easily induced in the lab at about one third of the FCC's exposure guidelines.

The telecom boys panicked. They and their lackey politicians and federal regulators decided the only lucrative thing to do was to LIE and DENY. Despite damning evidence, the FDAstill prevaricates: "There is no reason to conclude that there are health risks posed by cell phones to consumers." Meantime, the telecom industry has been pressing to INCREASE BY MORE THAN 10 TIMES the allowable human exposure to cell phone radiation!

Luckily, Dr. George Carlo headed up the industry's study project. He presents the shocking facts in his book, Cell Phones: Invisible Hazards in the Wireless Age: An Insider's Alarming Discoveries About Cancer and Genetic Damage (Carroll and Graf, 2001). A summary of Dr. Carlo's book is this: Cell phones are hot, adequate protective regulations are naught, and Americans are being "fried" so that the deceitful telecom industry can rake it in! It's dirty business as usual, and the longer the industry can con the public, the more billions it collects.

On June 16, 2002 , CBS aired a Sixty Minutes segment which confirmed the telecom industry is about as grungy as it gets. CBS producers accused major phone service providers of cheating, scamming, forging signatures, switching phone service without permission and lying about charges. The attorney general of Connecticut stated that despite millions of dollars in fines each year, these companies remain incorrigible. Should we be trusting this industry with our brain tissues and our very lives?

Microwave to the head is extremely hazardous to children. Parents in some European nations are now warned to keep children away from cell phones. A University of Utah researcher found the younger the child, the more radiation is absorbed by the brain. Spanish researchers have shown that cell phones can alter electrical activity of a child's brain for hours, causing drastic mood changes and possible behavior and learning disabilities. Scientists fear that cell phone radiation could damage human embryos. Pregnant women are advised to be wary.

A cell phone must greatly increase its field strength to maintain communications within the metallic cage of an auto. Thus, the effect of microwave radiation inside a vehicle is especially intense. Volkswagen of Europe has warned that cell phone usage inside a car can be "injurious to health due to the extremely high electromagnetic fields generated."

Insurance studies in England showed that an average driver talking on a cell is actually more impaired in function and reaction time than a drunk. Finland 's Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority reports that one hour of exposure to mobile phone radiation can cause human cells to shrink. Researchers believe this is due to increased protein activity, an indicator of cell damage. What an unstable world needs now is a global population afflicted with incredible shrinking brains!

Brain cancer rates in USA have increased by 25% since 1975. In 2001, 185,000 Americans were diagnosed with some form of brain cancer. A grade four brain tumor can grow from the size of a grape to tennis ball size in just 4 months. Brain tumors are almost always fatal and most people die within 6-12 months after diagnosis. On April 7, 2002 , Sixty Minutes aired a fascinating report on brain cancer, explaining that scientists are unsure why incidence of the disease is growing so exponentially.

Ironically, the segment was followed by a Sprint ad, which advised parents that the best way to keep track of teenagers is to connect them to a cell phone. While researchers say that radical damage to the brain can occur within the first few minutes of conversation, telecom ads encourage customers to spend many hours on the phone each month. Those blazing, full-page cell phone ads in newspapers and magazines must be the reason cell phone dangers are almost never discussed in the mainstream media.

An excellent resource tool is Robert Kane's book Cellular Telephone Russian Roulette (Vantage Press, 2001). As a telecommunications expert, Kane presents an impressive collection of studies showing that both government agencies and cell phone manufacturers KNEW YEARS AGO that cell phone radiation at present exposure levels is dangerous to human health. He notes that cell phones would be rendered useless if their RF emissions were reduced to safe levels.

Reports of illness from heavy cell phone usage and from living or working close to powerful RF transmitters are synchronous with numerous cancer-related lawsuits now being filed against the cell phone industry. The insurance industry sees big trouble ahead. Underwriters for Lloyd's of London refuse to insure phone manufacturers against damage to users' health. Cell phones are today what tobacco was 40 years ago.

Beware of The Toxicity of Soy Products

Researchers at Cornell University Medical College said that children who got soy formula were more likely to develop thyroid disease and that twice as many diabetic children had received soy formula in infancy as compared to non-diabetic children. In fact, in other countries such as Switzerland , England , Australia and New Zealand , public health officials recommend highly restricted medically monitored use of soy for babies and for pregnant women.

"While even in 1966 there was considerable research on the harmful substances within soybeans, you'll be hard pressed to find articles today that claim soy is anything short of a miracle-food. As soy gains more and more popularity through industry advertising, we are moved once again to raise our voice of concern. Soybeans in fact contain a large number of dangerous substances.

  • One among them is phytic acid, also called phytates. This organic acid is present in the bran or hulls of all seeds and legumes, but none have the high level of phytates that soybeans do. These acids block the bodyís uptake of essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, iron and especially zinc. Adding to the high-phytate problem, soybeans are very resistant to phytate reducing techniques, such as long, slow cooking.
  • Soybeans also contain potent enzyme inhibitors. These inhibitors block uptake of trypsin and other enzymes that the body needs for protein digestion. Normal cooking does not deactivate these harmful "antinutrients," that can cause serious gastric distress, reduced protein digestion and can lead to chronic deficiencies in amino acid uptake.
  • Beyond these, soybeans also contain hemagglutinin, a clot promoting substance that causes red blood cells to clump together. These clustered blood cells are unable to properly absorb oxygen for distribution to the body's tissues, and cannot help in maintaining good cardiac health. Hemagglutinin and trypsin inhibitors are both "growth depressant" substances. Although the act of fermenting soybeans does deactivate both trypsin inhibitors and hemagglutinin, precipitation and cooking do not. Even though these enzyme inhibitors are reduced in levels within precipitated soy products like tofu, they are not altogether eliminated. Only after a long period of fermentation (as in the creation of miso or tempeh) are the phytate and "antinutrient" levels of soybeans reduced, making their nourishment available to the human digestive system. THE RISE IN SOY ALLERGIES
Soy is one of the top allergens—substances that cause allergic reactions. In the 1980s, Stuart Berger, MD, labelled soy one of the seven top allergens—one of the "sinister seven". At the time, most experts listed soy around tenth or eleventh—bad enough, but way behind peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, shellfish, fin fish and wheat. Today, soy is widely accepted as one of the "big eight" that cause immediate hypersensitivity reactions.

Allergies are abnormal inflammatory responses of the immune system to dust, pollen, a food or some other substance. Those that involve an antibody called immunoglobulin E (IgE) occur immediately or within an hour. Reactions may include coughing, sneezing, runny nose, hives, diarrhoea, facial swelling, shortness of breath, a swollen tongue, difficulty swallowing, lowered blood pressure, excessive perspiration, fainting, anaphylactic shock or even death.

Delayed allergic responses to soy are less dramatic, but are even more common. These are caused by antibodies known as immunoglobulins A, G or M (IgA, IgG or IgM) and occur anywhere from two hours to days after the food is eaten. These have been linked to sleep disturbances, bedwetting, sinus and ear infections, crankiness, joint pain, chronic fatigue, gastrointestinal woes and other mysterious symptoms.

Food "intolerances", "sensitivities" and "idiosyncrasies" to soy are commonly called "food allergies", but differ from true allergies in that they are not caused by immune system reactions but by little-understood or unknown metabolic mechanisms.7–9 Strictly speaking, gas and bloating—common reactions to soy and other beans—are not true allergic responses. However, they may serve as warnings of the possibility of a larger clinical picture involving allergen-related gastrointestinal damage. 

PROFIT vs RISK 
The soybean industry knows that some people experience severe allergic reactions to its products. In a recent petition to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Protein Technologies International (PTI) identified "allergenicity" as one of the "most likely potential adverse effects associated with ingestion of large amounts of soy products". Yet PTI somehow concluded that "the data do not support that they would pose a substantial threat to the health of the US population". This statement is hardly reassuring to the many children and adults who suffer allergies to soy products. And it ignores a substantial body of evidence published during the 1990s showing that some of these people learn for the first time about their soy allergies after experiencing an unexpectedly severe or even life-threatening reaction. Severe reactions to soy are rare compared to reactions to peanuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish, but Swedish researchers recently concluded that "Soy has been underestimated as a cause of food anaphylaxis" (Foucard T., Malmheden Yman, I., Allergy 1999, 53(3):261-265).11 read the entire article


Just How Much Soy Did Asians Eat? In short, not that much, and contrary to what the industry may claim, soy has never been a staple in Asia . A study of the history of soy use in Asia shows that the poor used it during times of extreme food shortage, and only when the soybeans were carefully prepared (e.g. by lengthy fermentation) to destroy the soy toxins.

Soy also contains a natural estrogen, which is why it is recommended to women at menopause. The president of the Maryland Nutritionists Association, Mary Enig, Ph.D. stated that "The amount of phytoestrogens that are in a days worth of soy infant formula equals five birth control pills." Dr. Enig believes that soy infant formula may be associated with early puberty in girls and slower physical growth in boys. Others say it may effect fertility and normal brain development.

Brain.com reports an ongoing study involving 3,734 elderly Japanese-American men. That research has found that the men who ate the most tofu during mid-life had up to 2.4 times the risk of later developing Alzheimer's disease. Lead researcher Dr. Lon R. White said that men who ate tofu at least twice weekly showed brain aging about five years faster than those who seldom ate tofu. Babies and Soy: A Word of Caution

Considering all of soy's health benefits, it is tempting for new and expectant mothers to see soy-based infant formula as a "miracle food" and to stock their pantries sky-high with the stuff. Well, hold on there mama. That most vulnerable member of the population, an infant unable to breastfeed, stands at great risk of developing a serious thyroid disorder due to a diet based entirely on soy formula. That disorder is hypothyroidism, or an under-active thyroid and it is a common cause of fatigue, depression, obesity, constipation, extreme sensitivity to cold and a number of other symptoms, most so common that the disorder can go undiagnosed for years.

 

Precocious (Early) Puberty - Beware of infant soy formulas and other soy products

Elaine Hollingsworth, director of the Hippocrates Health Center of Australia and author of Take Control of Your Health and Escape the Sickness Industry, writes about the terrible effects of soy products on children: "I am not exaggerating when I say that HUNDREDS of people have rung me during the past year to tell me about dreadful health problems that started after taking up the soy habit. Serious thyroid malfunctioning is one of the most common complaints.  This is not surprising, since it has been known for years that isoflavones in soy can depress thyroid function, causing autoimmune thyroid disease and even cancer of the thyroid. By far the worst calls are from women whose children have been fed soy formula.  They tell me heartbreaking stories about baby girls who show signs of early maturation, such as underarm  odour, breast development, body hair and even menstruation as early as two, three and four years of age! The risk appears to be greatest in girls who ingest soy formula for nine months or more.  In baby boys, 12 months of soy feeding can lead to gross effects by the age of 11 or 12.  Breasts can appear and testicles do not develop.  Several women have rung asking what to do for these pathetic boys, who refuse to participate in sports, fearing shower-room ridicule, and who will be dependent upon thyroid drugs for life. I can't help, and I don't think anyone can.  Nature did not intend infants to be fed hormones, and life-threatening consequences occur when they are. Of course, these horrible problems do not occur with every soy-fed baby, but is it worth taking such a chance?  Your child will not thank you, and you may never have grandchildren. Drinking soymilk during pregnancy can cause a failure to produce breast milk, which can lead to feeding the baby soy formula.  By far the worst cases of soy damage are reported to us by women who have drunk soy milk while pregnant, and then fed their babies soy formula.  This is a deadly combination.  These women cannot restrain their tears when describing the dreadful health problems their children have.  They keep repeating to me, "I didn't know, I just didn't know, the doctor told me to drink it for my bones and give him soy formula."

Tofu and risk of breast cancer in Asian-Americans

Breast cancer rates among Asian-Americans are lower than those of US whites but considerably higher than rates prevailing in Asia. It is suspected that migration to the US brings about a change in endocrine function among Asian women, although reasons for this change remain obscure. The high intake of soy in Asia and its reduced intake among Asian-Americans has been suggested to partly explain the increase of breast cancer rates in Asian-Americans. We conducted a population-based case-control study of breast cancer among Chinese-, Japanese-, and Filipino-American women in Los Angeles County MSA, San Francisco Oakland MSA, and Oahu, Hawaii. Using a common questionnaire which assessed frequency of intake of some 90 food items, 597 Asian-American women (70% of those eligible) diagnosed with incident, primary breast cancer during 1983-1987 and 966 population-based controls (75% of those eligible) were interviewed. Controls were matched to cases on age, ethnicity, and area of residence. This analysis compares usual adult intake of soy (estimated primarily from tofu intake) among breast cancer cases and control women. After adjustment for age, ethnicity and study area, intake of tofu was more than twice as high among Asian-American women born in Asia (62 times per year) compared to those born in the US (30 times per year). Among migrants, intake of tofu decreased with years of residence in the US. Risk of breast cancer decreased with increasing frequency of intake of tofu after adjustment for age, study area, ethnicity, and migration history; the adjusted OR associated with each additional serving per week was 0.85 (95% CI = 0.74-0.99). The protective effect of high tofu intake was observed in pre- and postmenopausal women. This association remained after adjustment for selected dietary factors and menstrual and reproductive factors. However, this study was not designed specifically to investigate the role of soy intake and our assessment of soy intake may be incomplete. We cannot discount the possibility that soy intake is a marker of other protective aspects of Asian diet and/or Asian lifestyle.

 


 

Why Not Eat Soy?

·        High levels of phytic acid in soy reduce assimilation of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. Phytic acid in soy is not neutralized by ordinary preparation methods such as soaking, sprouting and long, slow cooking. High phytate diets have caused growth problems in children.

·        Trypsin inhibitors in soy interfere with protein digestion and may cause pancreatic disorders. In test animals, soy containing trypsin inhibitors caused stunted growth.

·        Soy phytoestrogens disrupt endocrine function and have the potential to cause infertility and to promote breast cancer in adult women.

·        Soy phytoestrogens are potent antithyroid agents that cause hypothyroidism and may cause thyroid cancer. In infants, consumption of soy formula has been linked to autoimmune thyroid disease.

·        Vitamin B12 analogs in soy are not absorbed and actually increase the body’s requirement for B12.

·        Soy foods increase the body’s requirement for vitamin D.

·        Fragile proteins are denatured during high temperature processing to make soy protein isolate and textured vegetable protein.

·        Processing of soy protein results in the formation of toxic lysinaolanine and highly carcinogenic nitrosamines.

·        Free glutamic acid, or MSG, a potent neurotoxin, is formed during soy food processing and additional amounts are added to many soy foods.

Though intended for renovations, Chris Anderson would like all visitors to deposit their cellular phones in the cement mixer by his front door. Other studies show that electromagnetic signals from cellular phones reduce the ability to concentrate, calculate and coordinate complicated activities such as driving a car. Startled by $4 billion a year in extra claims among cellphone-wielding drivers, North American insurers did a double-take that found simply juggling ‘cell phones is not causing a 600% increase in accidents over other drivers busy shaving, applying makeup, tuning radios, taming pets, making out, pouring coffee, retrieving dropped cigarettes, talking and gesturing to passengers, or actually steering the vehicle.

Instead of just another dangerous distraction, tests conducted by the U.S. Department of Energy found that using a cell phone severely impairs memory and reaction times. “Hands-free” mobile speaker-phones cause even more crashes because they typically emit 10-times more brainwave interference than handheld units.

For all drivers dialing outon their cell phones, University of Toronto investigators report that the heightened probability of cracking up your car persists for up to 15-minutes after completing a call.

That’s comparable to the risk of crashing while driving dead drunk exclaims Dr. Chris Runball, chairman of the B.C. Medical Association’s emergency medical services committee. Reeling from “dial-a-collision” costs, the government of British Columbia may join England, Spain, Israel, Switzerland and Brazil in restricting or banning the use of cell phones by drivers.

In New Zealand, cellphone towers are prohibited on school property because of possible health effects. But Health Canada regulations ignore the hidden hazards of cell-wrenching cellphones, which send pulsed signals through the skull in a process one expert likens to “jackhammers on the brain.”

“Safety Code 6” looks only at microwaves burning skin. “Basically, Health Canada claims if it can’t cook you, it can’t hurt you,” says Walter McGinnis. “It’s like saying cigarettes aren’t dangerous unless they burn you.”

One of a handful of licensed electricians who understand electromagnetic fields well enough to eliminate them from household wiring, McGinnis has been testing EMFs and collaborating with fellow testers and researchers for nearly a decade. In Victoria, where he has helped residents defeat six cellphone towers, there was dancing in the streets after Microcell Connexions withdrew its application to erect a microwave transmission tower against the Wishart Elementary School fence in the spring of 1998.

Microcell spokesman Colin McCrae points out that emissions from the company’s towers carry about the same energy as a 50-watt lightbulb - well within federal guidelines. This is hardly reassuring, retorts the former president of the Wisehart parents advisory council. Tania Berenuik observes that Health Canada “also told us thalidomide, asbestos and the blood supply were safe.”

Carrying similar risks of long-term lethality, and strangely just as legal, cellphone addiction mirrors the prestigious early allure of smoking - as well as an immensely profitable industry’s steadfast denial of risk and responsibility. As poisonous as cigarette smoke and even harder to corral, the cellphone’s “second-hand” microwave and radio-frequency (RF) pollution pose invisible but significant risks to bystanders - particularly children riding in cars that transmit amplified cellphone signals through their steel structure. Reporting the conclusions of a 12-person British study team, scientist Sir William Stewart told London’s Financial Times that “children may be more vulnerable because of their developing nervous system, the greater absorption of energy in the tissues of the head and a longer lifetime of exposure.”

Roger Coghill became a long-standing advocate for health warnings to be affixed to cell phones after this biologist found that cellphone transmissions damage the ability of white blood cells to ward off infectious disease by disrupting the immune system’s electromagnetic communications.

Dr. Neil Cherry has measured accelerated aging, increased cell death and cancers caused by radio frequency microwaves from cellphones and their relay towers. With the brain’s electro-chemical communications repeatedly zapped by lightning-like cellphone pulses, this Ph.D. biophysicist warns that headaches, fatigue, lethargy, nausea, dizziness, depression, arteriosclerosis and even Alzheimer’s can result from frequent or prolonged calls on cell phones.

“There is also a higher incidence of cardiac problems,” Cherry comments, “in terms of the timing function in hearts. You get more heart attacks and more heart disease - it has now been shown in many studies.”

The biophysicist from Lincoln University in Christ Church, New Zealand has also found that cell phones can murderously modify moods. In brains and bodies seriously derailed by tiny imbalances in trace minerals and hormones, depression, suicide, anger, rage and violence can result when calcium and serotonin levels are disrupted by cellphone transmissions.

In 1995, Cell phone sales in North America exceeded the birth rate. Hired by the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association to condone cellphones, public health scientist George Carlo found that rare tumors on the outside of the brain are more than doubled among cell phone callers - particularly on the right side of the head where ‘phones are usually held. Carlo told ABC’s “20/20” that cell phone causes genetic damage that leads to cancer.

Warning of “the potential for a global health disaster,” ABC recommended “prudent avoidance” of cellphones after finding that every cellphone they lab-tested exceeded the Federal Communication Commission’s standards for EMF absorption rates. EMF researcher Dave Ashton cautioned 20/20 viewers that because cellphones constantly search for the nearest repeating tower, “long-term damage comes from cell phones in the stand-by mode.” Cell phone “shields” and headsets “cannot adequately address these problems,” Ashton added.

Dr. Carlo later told London’s Express newspaper that cellphones cause genetic damage following a dose-response curve. That is, the more a person uses a cell phone, the more cellular destruction and health risks they incur. Cellphone-confused cells can go crazy, Carlo cautioned. Experiments on captive animals show that this cumulative DNA damage is passed on to succeeding generations.

Addicted as we are to a culture of convenience, we forget how inconvenient it is to contract cancer. An Adelaide Hospital study confirmed Carlo’s conclusions after finding B-cell lymphomas doubled in mice within 18 months of one-hour daily exposure to power densities experienced by a cellphone user. B-cell lymphomas are implicated in 85% of all cancers.

READY OR NOT As magazine-size “cellular” relay antennas hidden in church steeples and rooflines keep popping up just about everywhere, more and more communities are declaring their airspace a “No Fry Zone”. But in Canada, where cell phone towers come under federal jurisdiction, municipalities are only “advisers’ to a process in which no permits are required to erect transmitter towers deemed necessary for “national security.” Cellphones do save a lot of lives. FCC Chairman William Kennard reports that every day more than 98,000 people make 911 calls from wireless cell phones.

Many more lives are involuntarily imperiled by non-emergency calls. Pat Irwin was working in a Colwood health food store when she noticed a truck unloading metal framework. The next morning, a new cellphone tower was ready to add its emissions to another BC Tel tower already operating down the street. There had been no announcement, no public hearings - just a quiet notification to the municipality that a tower was going up, literally overnight.

The intruder radiated for a month when Irwin felt her immunity dropping. She wondered if other changes in her energy and menstrual cycle were “not from the moon or something that I ate.”

Irwin also seemed more irritable after her central nervous switchboard began receiving round-the-clock cellphone calls. With cellular relay towers in Kansas and Oklahoma being shut down because they interfered with passing aircraft, Irwin sensed how the same transmissions plucked her own electrical circuitry, inflicting a “chronic edginess” that “twangs human nerves.” Sleep disorders, she learned, are common among people exposed to high levels of electromagnetic pollution.

After several other women in the same business centre reported similar symptoms, Irwin quit her job. “I saw it as something that was there to stay and I’d be daily exposed to it over a long period of time,” she told Alive. “All this stuff is what we’re playing with on a daily basis, and we don’t know the long-term health effects.”

Implying recognized hazard, cell phone companies such as B.C.’s FIDO insist that the new digital phones operating at 1/50 the power of older analog models are safer. But there is nothing “safe” about the new 1.9 gigahertz broadcasting frequency. Much like a boxer taking repeated blows to the head, rapidly pulsing cellphones signal permanent brain damage. A study by Dr. Peter Franch found unequivocally that “cells are permanently damaged by cellular phone frequencies.” This cellular damage, Franch noted, is maximized at low dosage - and “inherited unchanged, from generation to generation.”

Attempting to explain a 25% increase in asthma and a 5% increase in asthma-related death rates throughout rapidly “mobilizing” metropolitan Sydney, Franch found that the production of histamine, which triggers bronchial spasms, is nearly doubled after exposure to mobile phone transmissions. Cellphones also reduce the effectiveness of anti-asthmatic drugs, and retard recovery from illness.

Katharina Gustavss, a certified Building Biology consultant with 25 years experience, explains that CDMA’s 217 Hz spikes are very close to the frequencies of human cell membranes. Gustavss accompanied a Microcell technician to the Colwood microwave relay tower Irwin and others had complained about. When he waved a spectrum analyzer, Gustavss checked the display and saw “pretty scary” energy spikes.

“What’s that?” she asked the tech.

“I’ve never seen that before,” he told her. It turned out that this cellphone tower tester only set his meter to an averaging mode. Switching to “real time” froze the readings at “scary” maximum output levels.

How dangerous are cellphones? “The risk is extremely high,” declares Dr. Cherry. “There are 66 epidemiological studies showing that electromagnetic radiation across the spectrum increase brain tumors in human populations. Two of those studies are for particular brain tumors from cell phones.”

Cherry says that because cancer takes decades to develop, it will be another 10 or 20 years before “mobiles” manifest a big bonanza in brain tumors. But he adds, we’re already seeing “acute effects that are noticed within minutes of using a cellphone.”

After two minutes’ conversation, a cellphone’s digitized impulses disable the safety barrier that isolates the brain from destructive proteins and poisons in the blood. Professor Leif Salford, the neurologist who carried out the research for this finding, informed the Daily Mail: “It seems that molecules such as proteins and toxins can pass out of the blood, while the phone is switched on, and enter the brain. We need to bear in mind diseases such as MS and Alzheimer’s which are linked to proteins being found in the brain.”

DANCING WITH THE TELECOMONSTER If you must pack a cell phone, treat it like a loaded pistol. Keep it turned off. Don’t carry it near ovaries, testicles, or the heart. For partial protection, buy an antenna shield. Limit calls to one-minute, six to 10 minutes a month. Never fire off a cellphone with children anywhere in sight.

A better bet is to facilitate the growth of organic telephone networks with lots of fibre. Instead of more microwave towers, “We should be wiring up our cities with fibre-optic cables to provide Internet, fax, telephone, radio and television at very high quality,” Cherry urges, “rather than saturating our cities with the microwave, radiowave and low frequency signals all the time.”

When it comes to cells, consciousness and cell phones, every call is collect. How can convenience count more than cancer? What is gained by being in constant contact with disembodied voices, while being “out of touch” with the friends and neighbours around us? Are we comfortable having our location traced by monitoring authorities?

Unless we start voting with our wallets, consumer complacency could prove as species-limiting as corporate cynicism. “Microwave frequencies are the same as those used in radar and your microwave oven,” says Florida cellphone tower opponent Joe Chwick. “You wouldn’t think of sticking your head in the oven, but there is no hesitation to putting the cell phone to your ear.”

Having somehow survived three-million years of evolution without them, many contemporary hominids claim they cannot live without them. But can exquisitely sensitive electromagnetic beings live with cell phones - and the cell phone towers their signals ride in on? Like polyethylene food and water containers, plastic cookers and coffee-makers, microwave ovens and petroleum-powered vehicles, cellphones could be one of those brilliantly beguiling inventions we have to let go. Would hanging up on such an intrusive and hazardous addiction be so terrible?

Five “Health Foods” to Avoid

If you started the day with what you thought was a healthy breakfast; wheat toast, orange juice & eggs cooked in vegetable oil, you just ate three of the five “health” foods to avoid! It can be difficult to know just what is healthy with all the information that we are bombarded with including all the old claims of what constitutes a healthy diet. But as you will read, you are much better without the following “healthy” foods.

 

Wheat bread: 

Wheat bread should not be considered a healthy or necessary part of the diet. Wheat is often contaminated with mycotoxins and no matter what the form, wheat, whole wheat, cracked wheat, sprouted wheat, etc., they will all be able of causing the same problems including: Celiac disease, Rheumatoid arthritis, Miscarriages, Headaches, Infertility, Developmental delay in children, Irritable bowel syndrome.

Intolerance to wheat is far more common than doctors recognize. Also, wheat, and nearly all other grains rapidly convert to sugar and rapidly accelerate aging and chronic illness in most of us.

Most of us would be best served by limiting or avoiding wheat altogether.

 

Vegetable oil

Polyunsaturated oils like corn, soy, safflower and canola, are the worst oils you can eat. Especially if heated in processing or cooking they tend to become oxidized or rancid, resulting in the formation of trans fat and difficult for the body to process.

 

Soy

Despite supporters claims that soy is an ideal source of protein, lower cholesterol, protection against heart disease, etc., numerous studies have found that soy products may;

  • Increase the risk of breast cancer
  • Contribute to thyroid disorders
  • Promote kidney stones
  • Weaken the immune system
  • Cause severe, potentially fatal food allergies

Perhaps the most disturbing of soy’s ill effects has to do with its phytoestrogens that can mimic the effects of the female hormone estrogen. These phytoestrogens have been found to have adverse effects on various human tissues, and drinking even two glasses of soy milk daily for one month has enough of the chemical to alter a woman’s menstrual cycle.

Soy is particularly problematic for infants, and soy infant formulas should be avoided, as they receive five birth control pills worth of estrogen every day!

 

Pasteurized dairy

Despite the widespread notion that milk is healthy, it is frequently associated with worsening health. If you are going to consume milk, some advocate using raw, unpasturized milk. Some contend that the human body is not equipped to digest the milk of another animal.

But certainly, the pasteurization process creates many problems; it destroys enzymes, diminishes vitamin content, denatures milk proteins, destroys Vitamin B12 and B6, kills beneficial bacteria, promotes pathogens and is associated with allergies, osteoporosis, colic in infants, growth problems in children, the list goes on. Calves fed pasteurized mild die before maturity! Inspection of dairy herds for disease is not required for pasteurized milk.

All dairy is mucous forming and must eliminated for any regenerative regime.

 

Orange juice (and all fruit juice)

Fruit juice has about eight full teaspoons of sugar per eight-ounce glass. This sugar is called fructose and is every bit as dangerous as regular table sugar since it will cause a major increase in insulin levels.

Further, many commercial orange juices are contaminated with mold from damaged fruit that are processed.  If you drink fruit juice, moderate the sweetness by diluting with pure water as much as possible.

Aspartame Disease: An FDA-Approved Epidemic

"Diet" products containing the chemical sweetener aspartame can have multiple neurotoxic, metabolic, allergenic, fetal and carcinogenic effects. My database of 1,200 aspartame reactors--based on logical diagnostic criteria, including predictable recurrence on rechallenge--is reviewed.

The existence of aspartame disease continues to be denied by the FDA and powerful corporate entities. Its magnitude, however, warrants removal of this chemical as an "imminent public health threat." The use of aspartame products by over two-thirds of the population, and inadequate evaluation by corporate-partial investigators underscore this opinion.

As said by Senator Howard Metzenbaum (1):

“We had better be sure that the questions that have been raised about the safety of this product are answered. I must say at the outset, this product was approved by the FDA in circumstances that can only be described as troubling.”

I have devoted more than two decades to analyzing aspartame disease, a widespread but largely ignored disorder. Its existence continues to be reflexively denied by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the American Medical Association (AMA), and many public health/ regulatory organizations.

An Overview of Aspartame Disease

As far back as 1988, seven years after the initial release of aspartame, 80 percent (!) of complaints volunteered by consumers to the FDA about supplements involved aspartame

For orientation about the gravity of this public health dilemma, I shall mention just a few of the published associations in aspartame reactors. They include the initiation or aggravation of diabetes mellitus, hypoglycemia, convulsions, headache, depression, other psychiatric states, hyperthyroidism, hypertension and arthritis; the simulation of multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease and lupus erythematosus; increasing aspartame addiction; an apparent causative role in brain tumors; a neurologic condition in overweight young women known as pseudotumor cerebri; and even the carpal tunnel syndrome.

In my opinion, lack of awareness of aspartame disease has resulted in gross miscarriage of justice. Examples include attributing the symptoms of weight-conscious women consuming considerable amounts of aspartame to silicone breast implants in expensive litigation, and imprisonment for the alleged methanol poisoning of a deceased spouse who consumed large amounts of aspartame.

Splenda--Here We Go Again
 
splnda packetsAs Dr. Janet Hull writes in her July newsletter, eating sucralose--brand name Splenda--is like ingesting tiny amounts of chlorinated pesticides. If this sounds unappealing to you, it certainly doesn't to Splenda's marketing team, who say they've "done a great job of redefining sweetness."

Splenda, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1988 as a tabletop sweetener and sweetener for an array of other products, is a chlorocarbon. Chlorocarbons are known to cause organ, genetic and reproductive damage, which may explain why Splenda has been found to shrink the thymus gland--a foundation of the immune system--by 40 percent.

According to Dr. Hull, sucralose also causes:

  • Swelling of the liver and kidneys
  • Calcification of the kidney
  • Fertility issues in male rates
  • Gastrointestinal problems in pregnant rats

It is especially important to stop using Splenda immediately if you experience kidney pain, cramping, swelling, an irritated bladder, or blood in your urine, she says. It is also interesting to note the information taken directly from a statement from the manufacturer of Splenda:

'Sucralose is made from sugar, but is derived from sucrose (sugar) through a process that selectively substitutes three atoms of chlorine for three hydrogen-oxygen groups on the sucrose molecule. No artificial sweetener made in the laboratory is going to be neither natural to the body nor safer than unprocessed sugar.'

Splenda is approximately 600 times sweeter than sugar, but the sweetness is forced, not like a natural sugar the body uses for fuel, says Dr. Hull. And although corporations say Splenda is safe, they have said the same thing about aspartame, which is now linked to disease and obesity. They also claim that the chlorine atoms in Splenda are altered and therefore safe, yet it's known that any animal that eats chlorine (especially on a regular basis) is at risk of cancer.

The corporate researchers go on further to say that sucralose is the most tested food additive in history. They stated, verbatim, the same thing about aspartame and, according to Dr. Hull, consumers are witnessing the same state of affairs in many ways.

So are you willing to risk your health by consuming something that closely resembles DDT?

Well, I sure am not and have and will continue to avoid this artificial sweetener and encourage you to do the same. In fact, I feel so strongly about this topic that I am in the process of writing a book about sucralose and its dangers that will be out in 2005.

 

 


Splenda Contains a potential poison
SplendaTM contains the drug sucralose.  This chemical is 600 times sweeter than sugar.  To make sucralose, chlorine is used.  Chlorine has a split personality.  It can be harmless or it can be life threatening.
In combo with sodium, chlorine forms a harmless "ionic bond" to yield table salt.  Sucralose makers often highlight this worthless fact to defend its' safety.  Apparently, they missed the second day of Chemistry 101 - the day they teach "covalent" bonds.
When used with carbon, the chlorine atom in sucralose forms a "covalent" bond.  The end result is the historically deadly "organochlorine" or simply: a Really-Nasty Form of Chlorine (RNFOC).
Unlike ionic bonds, covalently bound chlorines are a big no-no for the human body.  They yield insecticides, pesticides, and herbicides - not something you want in the lunch box of your precious child.  It's therefore no surprise that the originators of sucralose, chemists Hough and Phadnis, were attempting to design new insecticides when they discovered it!  It wasn't until the young Phadnis accidentally tasted his new "insecticide" that he learned it was sweet.  And because sugars are more profitable than insecticides, the whole insecticide idea got canned and a new sweetener called Splenda got packaged.
To hide its' origin, SplendaTM pushers assert that sucralose is "made from sugar so it tastes like sugar."  Sucralose is as close to sugar as WindexTM is to ocean water.
The RNFOC poses a real and present danger to all SplendaTM users.  It is risky because the RNFOC confers a molecule with a set of super powers that wreak havoc on the human body.  For example, Agent Orange, used in the U.S Army's herbicidal warfare program, is a RNFOC.  Exposure can lead to Hodgkin's lymphoma and non-Hodgkins lymphoma as well as diabetes and various forms of cancer!  Other shocking examples are the war gas phosgene, chlordane and lindane. (2)  The RNFOC is lethal because it allows poisons to be fat soluble while rendering the natural defense mechanisms of the body helpless.
A poison that is fat soluble is akin to a bomb exploding internally.  It invades every nook and cranny of the body.  Cell walls and DNA - the genetic map of human life - become nothing more than potential casualties of war when exposed.  Sucralose is only 25% water soluble. (3)  Which means a vast majority of it may explode internally.  In general, this results in weakened immune function, irregular heart beat, agitation, shortness of breath, skin rashes, headaches, liver and kidney damage, birth defects, cancer, cancer and more cancer - for generations! (1)

McNeil asserts that their studies prov e it to be safe for everyone, even children.  That's little assurance.  Learning from the VioxxTM debacle (and many others highlighted in my book Health Myths Exposed) which killed tens of thousands, we know that studies can be bought and results fabricated.
Some things are worth dying for.  Splenda is not one of them.  What people think of as a food is a drug or slow poison - little distinction there.  It wouldn't be wise to bet your health on it.  If safe, sucralose would be the first molecule in human history that contained a RNFOC fit for human consumption.  This fact alone makes sucralose questionable for use as a sweetener, if not instantly detrimental to our health.  Only time will tell.  Until then, Ill stick to the safe and naturally occurring stevia plant to satisfy my occasional sweet tooth in 2007. Be forewarned though, as long as drugs can be legally disguised as sweeteners, watch out for drugs being disguised as vitamins...Oh wait, they are already doing that - think Lipitor.

Rethinking Hormone Therapy
(the first part of the article)

A new paradigm for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is that healthy aging represents balanced signaling within the neuroimmuno-endocrine system. That means for every hormone signal there is a balanced response by another hormone signal. An overly simplistic view states that HRT corrects a measurable deficiency and prevents well known, age-related disturbances such as heart disease, hypertension, liver disease, bone fragility, obesity, diabetes, cancer and excess body fluid retention. Naturopaths all too frequently use the same thinking model except they replace prescription only hormones with 'natural phytoestrogens.' It is time to re-think our logic and return to "Less is more" and "Do no harm." There is an increasing literature that supports the notion that it is the imbalances in hormone signaling that heighten the risk of cancer and toxicity. (1-3)

Conventional medical thought recommends that a person replace by injection an equivalent level or higher, of a specific hormone as when they were 20 or thirty years old to prevent the development of longer-term deficiencies. The first clue as to the overly simplistic perspective of HRT is that higher than physiological levels of exogenous hormone are often necessary. Higher levels are needed to provide biologically active hormone in sufficient bio-available quantities to induce a physiological response after passing through the liver which in turn metabolizes most of it. Exogenous hormones frequently fall to reach their target organ in a bio-available form. Small hormone metabolites fail to elicit desired effects. Furthermore, tissue responsiveness declines with age, making higher hormone levels necessary to overcome tissue resistance.

Typically, HRT involves multiple hormones such as growth hormone, thyroid hormones, cortisol, testosterone, estrogen, and progestin. One of the inducements in HRT is that it only involves one hormone, however within a short time other HRT regimes can become necessary. Hormones have counter-regulatory signals to maintain homeostasis, thus unopposed hormonal signaling leads to further complex problems. For example, unopposed estrogen therapy strongly correlates to endometrial cancer risk. (4) Cycling progestin with estrogen reduces this risk when it is used for at least 14 days per cycle. Interesting, a combined HRT approach of estrogen-progestin without cycling is associated with higher risk of breast cancer as compared to unopposed estrogen therapy. Practitioners may easily begin HRT in their patients, however it becomes increasingly difficult to manage and involves increased health risks and side effects with aging. The more hormones involved the more difficult to manage patient care. One fundamental Princi ple of Pharmacology is that a drug (hormone) affects the body and the body responds with beneficial and/or adverse events. The more hormones administered exogenously, the more reactivity in the body that needs to be managed.

Conventional Toxicity, Patient Compliance and Cancer Risks

The complexity of hormone therapy cannot be denied. Unbalanced hormone networks heighten cancer risk (5) and yet the side effects and risks from HRT are numerous. Side effects and cancer risks arise from aberrant hormone levels such that an imbalance becomes distorted in either direction. Side effects from HRT include breast, ovarian and endomentrial cancers, gallbladder disease, thrombo-embolism, edema, nausea, fevers, tenderness, headaches, bloating, unwanted cyclical bleeding and inflammation. (6,7) The liver extensively metabolizes blood-circulating hormones making them far less bio-available. Adverse side effects are predicted from inflammatory processes. Hormones that are not trapped by the liver during their first pass cause inflammatory immune responses when partially enzyme-digested hormonal subspecies circulate a second time in the bloodstream. Due to increased liver toxicity with aging side effects from HRT predictably increase with age. The more hormone, the greater the risk of liver burden and i nflammatory eliciting responses.

…emotional disease is a significant factor in the creation of disease. Our inability to cope with stress, often due to feelings of uncertainty or lack of control, is also very damaging to the physical body and can lead to a nervous breakdown.

Even though it may appear that our emotional reactions are automatic, the nerve pathways that carry the information to the brain take approximately three seconds to relay this information before the emotional responses, and our mind’s experience of them are triggered. In these three seconds the rest of the brain has already received the information via faster nerve pathways, so even though we are unaware of this process, we are built to think before we feel. We are not victims of our emotions.

When we spontaneously have an emotional reaction, because our buttons are being pushed, we need to learn to deal with these emotions effectively so as not to create energy blockages and eventually disease….events are emotionless. We assign an emotion to them according to our perception. Strong emotions that are unresolved are stored in the body and create blockages as they impede the flow of energy through the body’s energy systems.

If we wish to increase both the quality of life, if we desire to experience more joy, happiness, and harmony in our life, we must firstly decide to accept nothing less. By deciding to focus on, and accept positive feelings in our lives, we learn to bring our attitude in line with positive thinking and always look to see the silver lining in every cloud. Both positivity and negativity exist; we choose to focus on the positive aspects of life and, as a result of the laws of energy, what we focus on grows.

By understanding that all experiences are here to teach and inspire us. By understanding how we assign an emotional response to an event via our perception of it, we gain more control over the quality of our experiences. Even if a situation initially appears negative, we can choose to see it and accept it as positive. We can, and will, learn from it so it can be embraced for its teaching power.

Storing negative emotions in the physical body serves no purpose. If we were to dam a free-flowing river by building a wall, the plant life beyond the dam wall would atrophy and die due to lack of water. So it is with our bodies. Emotions must flow freely for the body to be healthy. They must be accepted and not denied. They need to be dealt wit in a positive manner via honoring, acceptance and release without overindulgence. The computer hardware of the body stores negative emotions in databases called our organs; the liver stores anger, the lungs store sadness, etc. simply because we have not learnt how to effectively deal with these emotions.

In his book Ageless Body, Timeless Mind. Dr. Chopra states that emotional pain in the present is experienced as hurt, in the past it is remembered as anger, in the future, it is perceived as anxiety. Unexpressed anger redirected against yourself and held within is called guilt and the depletion of energy that occurs when anger is directed inward is called depression. If as he says in Quantum Healing, cells are just memories clothed in matter, then it is extremely important that we begin to look at and access cellular memory with a view to releasing energy blockages as we cleanse our cells of negativity and toxicity.

We can learn to deal with our emotions on a two-fold level. Firstly we can release negative emotions from past experiences stored in the cells and organs of the body. Secondly we can learn to deal more effectively with negative emotions as they confront us in an effective manner. By regular meditation we can take this one step further. We can learn detachment. We can act and not react. We can constantly experience life from that deep place within and see things in perspective.

 

1. Releasing negative emotions held in cellular memory.

a)This can be achieved by using creative visualization techniques…

b)A large selection of healing modalities are also available to aid the physical body to effect this release quickly and effectively: for example, kinesiology, homeopathy and body harmony. Aid the realigning and cleansing of the cellular structure and energy fields

of the body can be achieved through a number of alternative therapies which can achieve in hours what may otherwise take years of meditation.

c)We can also ask that our emotional body be cleansed and released of all negative beliefs and patterns of limitation while we sleep at night. Simply tune into your Higher Self and ask for this to be done. Do not doubt. You can ask for awareness of this being done via your dreams or you can specifically request that it be done without conscious memory.

I feel that all emotional release work can be a gentle and free-flowing experience and not traumatic unless one requires it to be. I do not support the saying, no pain, no gain, and feel that all can be achieved gently and lovingly if that is our intention and desire.

2. Learn to deal with negative emotions and hurt effectively

a)Dissipate negative emotions through breathing to regain a calm mind, body and emotions. Establish a deep, fine, rhythmical pattern and continue until you feel settled

b)Express your feelings in a non-attacking, non-threatening manner to the person who triggered the hurt and then deal with the issues that allow your buttons to be pushed. Remember, the external situation is only a mirror. If you held no issue within, you would not react. A good indicator for the success of the release work conducted is when you cease to react strongly to a situation that in the past was guaranteed to make you react.

c)Take responsibility for how you think and feel. Feelings always follow thought and perception. If you don’t like how you are feeling, change what you are thinking.

d)Approve of yourself and don’t seek approval from others. Set your standards of what is acceptable to you. We all have different standards of what we wish to experience and accept in life.

e)Top up your own energy by accessing your inner reservoir in meditation. By merging with the divine essence within we learn to love, honor and accept others and become our own well of happiness. Don’t depend on others to make you feel good.

f)Remember the most important person is you. If you are happy, you can positively deal with others and share more effectively.

g)Be in touch with your physical and emotional responses-do not deny how you feel. Burying something under the carpet or holding emotional dis-ease within, e.g. swallowing our tongue for the sake of peace or to not create waves will lead to disease, peptic ulcers, cancer, heart problems, etc.

h)Resolve why you feel hurt and let it go.

i)Learn to live in each moment.

j)Be willing to change-the only constant thing in the universe is change.

k)Don’t poison your body with harmful food, thoughts or emotions.

l)Release judgment. Choose to have only positive thoughts and assessments about others and also about yourself.

m)Replace fear motivation with love motivation.

One of the most powerful tools in healing the emotional body, and consequently the physical body, is forgiveness-forgiving both ourselves and others.

For years I practiced meditation, exercised regularly and followed a relatively pure diet. All this kept the cancer tumor in my liver relatively small. However, it was a direct result of unresolved anger. Although I had done much “personal growth”, rebirthing and used other tools to heal myself, I had not been able, or perhaps willing, to forgive until the diagnosis and “life threatening” situation forced me to. Orthodox medicine can save lives if cancers are detected early enough and removed. We must, however also look at why the cancer was created in the first place and remove the cause, not just the symptom.

3. Meditation as a preventive tool.

…The major benefit of meditation is in dealing with the emotions and the detachment we can achieve so that we no longer feel we are “at the mercy of others.” It allows us to be responsible for our own happiness in a dependable, guaranteed manner and also to readily identify problem ownership.

Mastering the emotional and the mental body does require discipline…we now can be aware and learn to discipline our thinking. An Indian guru once said that you cannot expect a wild horse that has roamed the plains since birth (like our undisciplined minds) to come into a corral simply because we whistle.

4. Set the Standards

I call the following technique and exercise “positive memory association”. It is designed to achieve two things. Firstly, to set a minimum standard of what is acceptable to you regarding your emotional experience. Secondly, to be used as a tool to tune your day when you get “out of the wrong side of the bed”. The technique is simple but powerful in its effectiveness.

Positive Memory Association

a)      Sit in contemplation-breathe deeply, finely and connected until you feel a sense of inner peace. This will allow you to access memory more quickly.

b)      Go back in time, search through your memory database. Find a time when you experienced your life to be just great, happy and fulfilling.

c)      Recapture the details, the time, the place, who you were with, what made it so special. In particular, pay attention to how you felt.

d)      When you have accessed the feeling of this event, decide to accept no less. The exact form the memory takes is not relevant. What is important is how you can use this memory to trigger feelings of joy and harmony.

 

The majority of people I have done this exercise with report that the most common feelings remembered were ones of joy, contentedness and being carefree…

The fact is that we have had these experiences in the past and, while we may not be able to recreate the same circumstances, we can set the standard for ourselves of what we wish to accept on an emotional level.

Simply by beginning each day by accessing a positive memory from your personal data base of memories, we can set the tone for each day. We can decide to accept no less and then evoke the feeling by reliving the memory. This will allow the day to begin on a positive note.

If the universe responds to our expectations and if we always expect the best for ourselves while vigilantly counteracting negative thoughts by being persistently positive, we will find our life changing quite magically-guaranteed!

MICROWAVE COOKING is Killing You!

Microwave cooking is one of the most important causes of ill health. It is certainly one of the most ignored.

There was a lawsuit in 1991 in Oklahoma. A woman named Norma Levitt had hip surgery, but was killed by a simple blood transfusion when a nurse "warmed the blood for the transfusion in a microwave oven!" 

Logic suggests that if heating is all there is to microwave cooking, then it doesn't matter how something is heated. Blood for transfusions is routinely warmed, but not in microwave ovens. Does it not therefore follow that microwaving cooking does something quite different?

A little evidence of the harm caused by microwaving cooking was given by the University of Minnesota in a radio announcement:

    "Microwaves ... are not recommended for heating a baby's bottle. The bottle may seem cool to the touch, but the liquid inside may become extremely hot and could burn the baby's mouth and throat... Heating the bottle in a microwave can cause slight changes in the milk. In infant formulas, there may be a loss of some vitamins. In expressed breast milk, some protective properties may be destroyed.... Warming a bottle by holding it under tap water or by setting it in a bowl of warm water, then testing it on your wrist before feeding, may take a few minutes longer, but it is much safer".

There have been very few scientific studies done on the effect of eating food microwaved food. This is rather surprising when you think about the fact that microwaves have been with us for only a few decades - and that in that time the incidence of many diseases has continued to increase.

Two researchers, Blanc and Hertel, confirmed that microwave cooking significantly changes food nutrients. Hertel previously worked as a food scientist for several years with one of the major Swiss food companies. He was fired from his job for questioning procedures in processing food because they denatured it. He got together with Blanc of the Swiss Federal Institute of Biochemistry and the University Institute for Biochemistry.

They studied the effect that microwaved food had on eight individuals, by taking blood samples immediately after eating. They found that after eating microwaved food, haemoglobin levels decreased. "These results show anaemic tendencies. The situation became even more pronounced during the second month of the study".

Who knows what results they would have found if they had studied people who ate microwaved food for a year or more?

The violent change that microwaving causes to the food molecules forms new life forms called radiolytic compounds. These are mutations that are unknown in the natural world. Ordinary cooking also causes the formation of some radiolytic compounds (which is no doubt one reason why it is better to eat plenty of raw food), but microwaving cooking causes a much greater number. This then causes deterioration in your blood and immune system.

In addition, they found that the number of leucocytes increases after eating microwaved food - something which haematologists take very seriously, because this is often a sign of highly harmful effects, such as poisoning.

Also, after eating microwaved food, cholesterol levels increased. Hertel said "Common scientific belief states that cholesterol values usually alter slowly over longer periods of time. In this study, the markers increased rapidly after the consumption of the microwaved vegetables." He believes his study tends to confirm new scientific data that suggest cholesterol may rapidly increase in the blood secondary to acute stress. "Also," he added, "blood cholesterol levels are less influenced by cholesterol content of food than by stress factors. Such stress-causing factors can apparently consist of foods which contain virtually no cholesterol - the microwaved vegetables."

The results were published in "Search for Health" in the Spring of 1992. How was this research greeted? A powerful trade organisation, the Swiss Association of Dealers for Electroapparatuses for Households and Industry somehow made the President of the Court of Seftigen issue a `gag order'. Hertel and Blanc were told that if they published their findings they would face hefty fines or up to one year in prison. In response to this, Blanc recanted his findings. Hertel, on the other hand, went on a lecture tour and demanded a jury trial.

FINALLY, in 1998 the Court `Gag Order' was removed.  In a judgment delivered at Strasbourg on 25 August 1998 in the case of Hertel v. Switzerland, the European Court of Human Rights held that there had been a violation of Hertel's rights in the 1993 decision.  The Court decided that the `gag order' prohibiting him form declaring that microwaved food is dangerous to health was contrary to the right to freedom of expression.  In addition, Switzerland was sentenced to pay compensation of F40,000.

In Summary: Blanc and Hertel found that eating microwaved food:

  • Increases cholesterol
  • Increases white blood cell numbers
  • Decreases red blood cell numbers
  • Causes production of radiolytic compounds (compounds unknown in nature)

RUSSIANS BAN MICROWAVE OVENS

After the World War II, the Russians also experimented with microwave ovens. From 1957 up to recently, their research has been carried out mainly at the Institute of Radio Technology at Klinsk, Byelorussia. According to US researcher William Kopp, who gathered much of the results of Russian and German research - and was apparently prosecuted for doing so (J. Nat. Sci, 1998; 1:42-3) - the following effects were observed by Russian forensic teams:

1. Heating prepared meats in a microwave sufficiently for human consumption created:
* d-Nitrosodiethanolamine (a well-known cancer-causing agent)
* Destabilization of active protein biomolecular compounds
* Creation of a binding effect to radioactivity in the atmosphere
* Creation of cancer-causing agents within protein-hydrosylate compounds in milk and cereal grains;
2. Microwave emissions also caused alteration in the catabolic (breakdown) behavior of glucoside - and galactoside - elements within frozen fruits when thawed in this way;
3. Microwaves altered catabolic behavior of plant-alkaloids when raw, cooked or frozen vegetables were exposed for even very short periods;
4. Cancer-causing free radicals were formed within certain trace-mineral molecular formations in plant substances, especially in raw root vegetables;
5. Ingestion of micro-waved foods caused a higher percentage of cancerous cells in blood;
6. Due to chemical alterations within food substances, malfunctions occurred in the lymphatic system, causing degeneration of the immune system==s capacity to protect itself against cancerous growth;
7. The unstable catabolism of micro-waved foods altered their elemental food substances, leading to disorders in the digestive system;
8. Those ingesting micro-waved foods showed a statistically higher incidence of stomach and intestinal cancers, plus a general degeneration of peripheral cellular tissues with a gradual breakdown of digestive and excretory system function;
9. Microwave exposure caused significant decreases in the nutritional value of all foods studied, particularly:
* A decrease in the bioavailability of B-complex vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E, essential minerals and lipotrophics
* Destruction of the nutritional value of nucleoproteins in meats
* Lowering of the metabolic activity of alkaloids, glucosides, galactosides and nitrilosides (all basic plant substances in fruits and vegetables)
* Marked acceleration of structural disintegration in all foods.

As a result microwave ovens were banned in Russia in 1976; the ban was lifted after Perestroika.


Standing in front of a microwave is also highly damaging to your health. Perhaps you have already felt this intuitively? We know that cells explode in the microwave - just fry an egg in your microwave. We are made up of trillions of cells. So work out how many are getting damaged if you stand in front of your microwave for 5-10 minutes.

In the past I had been told that it was important for people to stop eating microwaved food, but I did not pay too much attention to this because I had been microwave cooking for years. I never thought much about it but I suppose that I figured that if something was so bad for us, then there wouldn't be so many people using it. Little did I know.

When I first began seeing clients for sessions of kinesiology, I did not worry too much about telling them to give up eating microwaved food. However, I kept a record of all of the corrections that were needed for each client when they came in. Now, once a correction is made, it is to be hoped that the correction will stay in place for a long time to come, hopefully months if not years. People often ask me "How long will it last?" May answer to them is "That depends on your lifestyle".

Most of my clients came back to see me after about two weeks. In the early days I found that many who came back were not much better. I found that they were again `out of balance'. That is, their electrical circuits were not working correctly (which is common for many people). It was therefore not surprising that they were not much better, because the body does not begin to fully fix itself until the electrical circuits are in balance.

The question was, why did their electrical circuits go out of balance? The answer had to be something that was highly stressful, to effect the body in such a short space of time. Once that answer was remedied, the client would begin to get better. Using muscle testing, I went through the process of testing if the cause was electrical, chemical/nutritional, emotional or structural. Again and again the same answer would come up - electrical. When I then went through a range of possible electrical causes, the same answer again came up again and again - the person had eaten microwaved food! Incidentally, this answer never came up when a person had NOT eaten microwaved food.

I began to tell all of my clients on the first visit that under NO circumstances were they ever to do microwaved cooking again. I gave this a higher priority than any of things that are normally considered as health risks, such as cigarettes or alcohol. Immediately I began to get a marked improvement in the results I was getting. Long term problems such as headaches, back aches and emotional instability went away within a few weeks.

Other kinesiologists can confirm these results. David Bridgman, who has years of experience as a kinesiologist, said "Of all the people I test for allergies, 99.9% so far show severe sensitivity to any microwaved food".

I experienced the effect of eating microwaved food for myself one time. I had been doing quite a lot of kinesiology and feeling on top of the world when for no apparent reason I began to feel rather `grey' and rather low. I realised that I needed a balance from a kinesiologist. Sure enough, I was out of balance. When the kinesiologist used muscle testing to see why my body had gone out of balance, the answer came up ... microwaved food! The trouble was, I couldn't remember eating any. Until I remembered a particular vegetarian restaurant I had been to. When I went back to the restaurant and asked them if they microwaved their food, they told me that they did.

So be warned! Many restaurants use microwaved cooking, even `health' restaurants. Ask if the "steamed vegetables" are in fact steamed - or are they microwaved? I have sent meals back when they have not been what they were described on the menu, much to the surprise of the restaurant owners.


MICROWAVED PLASTIC WRAP HAS 10,000,000 TIMES FDA LIMITS OF CARCINOGENS!

As a seventh grade student, Claire Nelson learned that di(ethylhexyl)adepate (DEHA), considered a carcinogen, is found in plastic wrap. She also learned that the FDA had never studied the effect of microwave cooking on plastic-wrapped food. Three years later, with encouragement from her high school science teacher, Claire set out to test what the FDA had not.

Although she had an idea for studying the effect of microwave radiation on plastic wrapped food, she did not have the equipment. Eventually, Dr. Jon Wilkes at the National Center for Toxicological Research agreed to help her. The research center, which is affiliated with the FDA, let her use its facilities to perform her experiments, which involved microwaving plastic wrap in virgin olive oil.

Claire tested four different plastic wraps and "found not just the carcinogens but also xenoestrogen was migrating [into the oil]...." Xenoestrogens are linked to low sperm counts in men and to breast cancer in women. Throughout her junior and senior years, Claire made a couple of trips each week to the research center, which was 25 miles from her home, to work on her experiment. An article in Options reported "her analysis found that DEHA was migrating into the oil at between 200 parts and 500 parts per million. The FDA standard is 0.05 parts per billion."

Her summarized results have been published in science journals. Claire Nelson received the American Chemical Society's top science prize for students during her junior year and fourth place at the International Science and Engineering Fair (Fort Worth,Texas) as a senior. Reduce Grains and Sugar to Lose Weight and Improve Health, part 1–

For several million years, humans existed on a diet of animals and vegetation. It was only with the advent of agriculture a mere 10,000 years ago - a fraction of a second in evolutionary time - that humans began ingesting large amounts of sugar and starch in the form of grains (and potatoes) into their diets. Indeed, 99.99% of our genes were formed before the advent of agriculture; in biological terms, our bodies are still those of hunter-gatherers.

While the human shift to agriculture produced indisputable gains for man - modern civilization is based on this epoch - societies where the transition from a primarily meat/vegetation diet to one high in cereals show a reduced lifespan and stature, increases in infant mortality and infectious disease, and higher nutritional deficiencies.

Contemporary humans have not suddenly evolved mechanisms to incorporate the high carbohydrates from starch- and sugar-rich foods into their diet. In short, we are consuming far too much bread, cereal, pasta, corn (a grain, not a vegetable), rice, potatoes and Little Debbie snack cakes, with very grave consequences to our health. Making matters worse, most of these carbohydrates we consume come in the form of processed food.

That 65% of Americans are overweight, and 27% clinically obese, in a nation addicted to sesame seed buns for that hamburger, with a side of French fries and a Coke, is no coincidence. It is not the fat in the foods we eat but, far more, the excess carbohydrates from our starch- and sugar-loaded diet that is making people fat and unhealthy, and leading to epidemic levels of a host of diseases such as diabetes.

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, chances are very good that the excess carbohydrates in your body are, in part or whole, to blame:

Excess weight

Fatigue and frequent sleepiness

Depression

Brain fogginess

Bloating

Low blood sugar

High blood pressure

High triglycerides

We all need a certain amount of carbohydrates, of course, but, through our addiction to grains, potatoes, sweets and other starchy and sugary foods, we are consuming far too many. The body's storage capacity for carbohydrates is quite limited, though, so here's what happens to all the excess: they are converted, via insulin, into fat and stored in the adipose, or fatty, tissue.

Any meal or snack high in carbohydrates generates a rapid rise in blood glucose. To adjust for this rise, the pancreas secretes the hormone insulin into the bloodstream, which lowers the glucose. Insulin is, though, essentially a storage hormone, evolved over those millions of years of humans prior to the agricultural age, to store the excess calories from carbohydrates in the form of fat in case of famine.

Insulin, stimulated by the excess carbohydrates in our overabundant consumption of grains, starches and sweets, is responsible for all those bulging stomachs and fat rolls in thighs and chins.

Even worse, high insulin levels suppress two other important hormones - glucagons and growth hormones - that are responsible for burning fat and sugar and promoting muscle development, respectively. So insulin from excess carbohydrates promotes fat, and then wards off the body's ability to lose that fat.

Excess weight and obesity lead to heart disease and a wide variety of other diseases. But the ill effect of grains and sugars does not end there. They suppress the immune system, contributing to allergies, and they are responsible for a host of digestive disorders. They contribute to depression, and their excess consumption is, in fact, associated with many of the chronic diseases in our nation, such as cancer and diabetes.

Doctors Are the 3rd Leading Cause of Death in the US
Causing 250,000 Deaths Every Year (From Dr Mercola, news letter).

This article in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) is the best article I have ever seen written in the published literature documenting the tragedy of the traditional medical paradigm.

This information is a follow up of the Institute of Medicine report which hit the papers in December of last year, but the data was hard to reference as it was not in peer-reviewed journal. Now it is published in JAMA which is the most widely circulated medical periodical in the world.

The author is Dr. Barbara Starfield of the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health and she describes how the US health care system may contribute to poor health.

ALL THESE ARE DEATHS PER YEAR:

12,000 -- unnecessary surgery

7,000 -- medication errors in hospitals

20,000 -- other errors in hospitals

80,000 -- infections in hospitals

106,000 -- non-error, negative effects of drugs

These total to 250,000 deaths per year from iatrogenic causes!!

What does the word iatrogenic mean? This term is defined as induced in a patient by a physician's activity, manner, or therapy. Used especially of a complication of treatment.

Dr. Starfield offers several warnings in interpreting these numbers:

First, most of the data are derived from studies in hospitalized patients.

Second, these estimates are for deaths only and do not include negative effects that are associated with disability or discomfort.

Third, the estimates of death due to error are lower than those in the IOM report.

If the higher estimates are used, the deaths due to iatrogenic causes would range from 230,000 to 284,000. In any case, 225,000 deaths per year constitutes the third leading cause of death in the United States, after deaths from heart disease and cancer. Even if these figures are overestimated, there is a wide margin between these numbers of deaths and the next leading cause of death (cerebrovascular disease).

Another analysis concluded that between 4% and 18% of consecutive patients experience negative effects in outpatient settings, with:

116 million extra physician visits

77 million extra prescriptions

17 million emergency department visits

8 million hospitalizations

3 million long-term admissions

199,000 additional deaths

$77 billion in extra costs

The high cost of the health care system is considered to be a deficit, but seems to be tolerated under the assumption that better health results from more expensive care.

However, evidence from a few studies indicates that as many as 20% to 30% of patients receive inappropriate care.

An estimated 44,000 to 98,000 among them die each year as a result of medical errors.

This might be tolerated if it resulted in better health, but does it? Of 13 countries in a recent comparison, the United States ranks an average of 12th (second from the bottom) for 16 available health indicators. More specifically, the ranking of the US on several indicators was:

13th (last) for low-birth-weight percentages

13th for neonatal mortality and infant mortality overall

11th for postneonatal mortality

The poor performance of the US was recently confirmed by a World Health Organization study, which used different data and ranked the United States as 15th among 25 industrialized countries.

There is a perception that the American public "behaves badly" by smoking, drinking, and perpetrating violence." However the data does not support this assertion.

The proportion of females who smoke ranges from 14% in Japan to 41% in Denmark; in the United States, it is 24% (fifth best). For males, the range is from 26% in Sweden to 61% in Japan; it is 28% in the United States (third best).

The US ranks fifth best for alcoholic beverage consumption.

The US has relatively low consumption of animal fats (fifth lowest in men aged 55-64 years in 20 industrialized countries) and the third lowest mean cholesterol concentrations among men aged 50 to 70 years among 13 industrialized countries.

These estimates of death due to error are lower than those in a recent Institutes of Medicine report, and if the higher estimates are used, the deaths due to iatrogenic causes would range from 230,000 to 284,000.

Even at the lower estimate of 225,000 deaths per year, this constitutes the third leading cause of death in the US, following heart disease and cancer.

Lack of technology is certainly not a contributing factor to the US's low ranking.

Among 29 countries, the United States is second only to Japan in the availability of magnetic resonance imaging units and computed tomography scanners per million population. 17

Japan, however, ranks highest on health, whereas the US ranks among the lowest.

It is possible that the high use of technology in Japan is limited to diagnostic technology not matched by high rates of treatment, whereas in the US, high use of diagnostic technology may be linked to more treatment.

Supporting this possibility are data showing that the number of employees per bed (full-time equivalents) in the United States is highest among the countries ranked, whereas they are very low in Japan, far lower than can be accounted for by the common practice of having family members rather than hospital staff provide the amenities of hospital care.

Dairy and Your Health –

 Milk-based products are mucous forming and research has shown them to be a leading cause of many health issues. Read on for more information.

 Heart Disease

 The consumption of modern dairy products has been found by researchers to be a leading cause of arteriosclerosis, heart attacks and strokes. The highest death rate from heart disease in the world is found in Finland, a country with one of the very highest rates of dairy product consumption. Compared to people in the US, the Finnish people consume one and a half times as many dairy products, and die one and a half times as often from heart disease.

 The higher fat forms of dairy products have been implicated as the culprit in contributing heavily to heart attacks, strokes, and arteriosclerosis. The higher fat dairy products are also those most likely to contain unsafe levels of environmental contaminants including pesticide residues and dangerous radioactive substances. Dairy products are high on the food chain, and dairy fats tend to collect very high concentrations of these pollutants. Of all the foods available to Americans, full-fat dairy products such as whole mile and cheese rank with fish as carriers of the highest levels of dangerous environmental contaminants.

 What about low-fat dairy products?

 Low-fat dairy products are higher in protein. Many people mistakenly assume this to be a health advantage. But as a result of their higher protein concentrations, low and especially non-fat dairy products make an even greater contribution to osteoporosis, kidney problems, and some forms of cancer than do their higher-fat counterparts.

What about allergies?

 Modern Western dairy products are the leading cause of food allergies, and the lower-fat versions are actually more allergenic than those higher in fat. It is the proteins in dairy products that induce allergic reactions in humans.

 The list of the most common symptoms of dairy allergens is a long one, as are the benefits often obtained by sensitive people who remove dairy products from their diets. Many studies have shown allergies to dairy products to cause irritability, restlessness, hyperactivity, muscle pain, mental depression, abdominal pain, cramps, bloating, gas, diarrhea, bad breath, headaches, lack of energy, constipation, poor appetite, malabsorption, nasal stuffiness, runny nose, sinusitis, asthma, shortness of breath, rashes, eczema and hives.

 Scientific literature contains numerous accounts of dramatic improvement, not just for the above problems, but also in cases of ulcerative colitis, obesity, enlarged tonsils and adenoids, and iron deficiency anemia occurring with the removal of dairy products.

 

What about Calcium and Iron?

 The dairy council distributes an attractive booklet free of charge to hospitals and schools throughout the country. Titled “Is it safe to be a vegetarian?”, the booklet provides a remarkably self-serving answer. The booklet says yes, it is safe-so long as you substitute more cheese, yogurt and milk for the “missing” meat.

 In fact, what the Dairy Council is suggesting is likely to cause food allergies and is an open invitation to iron-deficiency anemia. If you consume too many dairy products, be they in the form of skim mild, whole mile, cheese, yogurt, butter, ice cream, or whatever, there is a very real possibility of iron deficiency. Cow’s milk is so low in iron that you’d have to drink many gallons to get the iron available from a single serving of any dark green, leafy vegetable!

 Not only do dairy products provide no iron, they also block it’s absorption. Breastfed babies, for example, have a much higher rate of iron absorption than those fed cow’s milk formulas, even if they are especially fortified with extra iron.

 In our society, breast-feeding mothers often consume more dairy products than usual, thinking they are doing themselves and their babies good. Sadly, though, they aren’t. Breastfed babies can get colic and other symptoms of cow’s milk allergies if the mother consumes dairy products. The dairy proteins pass into the mother’s breast milk, make their way into the baby’s intestine and blood, and may result in persistent crying, fussing, and many other expressions of allergic reactions.

 Many researchers and health advocates agree that cow’s milk is simply not designed for anyone but a cow! All of the nutrients which we need can be gained from a diet of whole foods without the use of dairy-based products. That we need to consume dairy products to obtain calcium is a myth endorsed by the Dairy Council and uneducated individuals. We can simply use our own common sense in determining what is best for our bodies. Just look at how many people have adverse reactions to dairy and the industry which has been created to deal with the side effects of milk-based products, not to mention many other processed foods which are difficult to digest and assimilate. Why would something which is supposedly good for us, have an entire shelf in the drug store dedicated to products which will help us digest it, or deal with it’s side effects!

Our Thoughts Create Our Reality,
Our Health or Our Disease

Before embarking upon any change for better health, it’s important to understand the influence of our thoughts on our biology. As important as our efforts to cleanse and alkalize are, our attitudes preclude all else. Following are some comments from the brilliant Dr. Joe Dispenza.

 “The thinking brain, the neo-cortex, is the seed of our freewill and allows us to have a choice and opinion. The one thing I noticed about people who had changes in health had changed their thinking. If they changed their thinking, was the effect in the brain sending a new signal to their body? The answer is yes. We begin to construct new thoughts based on new knowledge. This wires our thoughts permanently in our brain, in the innate intelligence or spiritual essence, the higher order in every human being.

Our thoughts have a direct connection to our direct level of health. Thoughts make a chemical. If you have happy thoughts, then you’re producing chemicals that make you feel happy. If you have negative thoughts, angry thoughts or insecure thoughts, those thoughts make chemicals to make you feel how you’re thinking.

Those chemicals are messengers feeding the cells of the body. If you keep thinking the same thoughts for 20 years, you have an assault on the cells. They begin to cause the cells to produce proteins that are unhealthy.

We do one thing as our privilege as human beings; that is to modify our behavior. If you are not changing your thoughts, you’re living from the emotions of the past and that’s what causes people to become diseased.”

 “My research and what I have been teaching starts with a thought and goes to the cell. Thoughts push the genetic buttons that cause disease.

Feelings and emotions are the product of an experience. The problem is at a certain point in life people stop experiencing new things and new chemicals. They rely on feelings of the past.”

 “Study the anatomy of your thoughts. Most of our thoughts are automatic and those are the ones that run our behavior. Once we understand the way we process thought, people begin to understand what it is about them that keeps them separate from what they want in life.”

 “Anytime we embrace change in order to interrupt a program that runs life, ask important questions like;

 “What would it be like to be a happy person?”

“What is the greatest ideal of myself that I could have?”

“Who do I know (in history) that inspires me?”

“What would I have to change in order to be great?”

Ask yourself these questions every morning; you have to stop the program from running for a few minutes. The brain begins to reformat in a new sequence of neurological connections. Now we know scientifically that if that process is repeated, the neurological architecture will change within it, and we start growing new circuits.

So, once we grow new circuits, we’re preparing the body and brain for a new experience and we are no longer going to be our routine, automatic self. We each have the privilege of being a human with the freewill to change in the same lifetime, instead of after generations of adaptations.

And than we begin to create new circuits, which become the circuits we rely on more than the old familiar circuits. And that’s the cliff notes version of the course!”

Chemicals and Everyday Toxins in the Home

 The following are more facts from the Indoor Air Pollution Seminar given by Joyce last October.

Our homes should have a complete change of air 3 or 4 times a day. New homes are built so air tight that it is impossible to get a complete change of air. We should leave our windows open on each side of our house for better cross ventilation.

In Alberta last year accidental poisoning statistics were as follows:

Between the ages of: 0 - 4 years - 11, 515 poisonings

5 - 10 years - 1,52411

19 years - 1,01920

and over 7,799

Top three culprits according to Poison Control:

Household cleaners, bleach and medications. In the USA the #1 cause of accidental poisoning is Dawn Dishwashing detergent. WHY? Because it is the #1 seller.

Tide contains lye and is the #1 polluter. It is also the #1 seller. Did you know the little shiny things in Tide Powder are fiberglass?

Did you know that "Formula 409" is considered a legal pesticide?

Deep Woods, Off and many other insect repellents have an ingredient called DEET. DEET is known to cause seizures and in some cases, even death in children and adults.

Inert (or inactive) ingredients in products are protected by trade secrets and very dangerous. In the work place Material Safety Data Sheets must accompany any product used. The work place and the outdoors are considered "legal environments" while homes are not. Thus, regulations for outdoor air pollution and toxins in the workplace are much stricter than in the home.

The ideal rate of humidity is between 35% and 45%. Anything higher causes mold. When we use humidifiers or dehumidifiers with standing water we are encouraging mold growth in the standing water. The ideal temperature in the home is between 68 degrees and 72 degrees anything higher makes chemicals more active.

When we shower, the hot water combined with the chlorine in the water can cause headaches. Using aerosols can cause dizziness and headaches. Steam from our dryer vents is extremely toxic, because of the chemicals from dryer sheets and residue from laundry soap and bleach.

Chemicals used to dry clean clothing are very dangerous and can cause cancer. When you bring dry cleaning home, you should hang it outside for at least 3 days. Dry-cleaning chemicals are the same cancer causing chemicals that are found in mothballs.

There are 4700 chemicals in tobacco smoke.

Chemicals from carpets and plastic have been found to cause kidney and liver damage.

More products that contain Formaldehyde: Antiperspirants, Mouthwash, Toothpaste, Tupperware, Baggies, Permanent Press clothing, Floor waxes and furniture polishes, Coffee, Wax, Paper and Money.

Some symptoms caused by formaldehyde are: Allergies, cancer, immune system failings and asthma.

Products that contain Phenols: Acne medications, Baking Powder, Computers, TV sets, Mouthwash, Sugar substitutes, Wallpaper.

Some symptoms caused by phenols (which are absorbed by lungs and skin) are: Caustic burns, kidney and liver damage, hyperactivity and possibly even death.

"Lysol" is even more dangerous than we thought. Lysol contains phenols and dioxin (Agent Orange).

Fungicides used on fruit trees in the Okanogan, BC and in southwestern Ontario have been found to cause babies in both areas being born with no eyes or very tiny eyes.

When using chlorine, antiseptics or bleach in industrial settings you are required to wear impervious protective clothing including hard hats, boots, gloves, apron or coveralls, chemical goggles or full face shield. You are required to use them only in well ventilated areas.

When using Easy Off make sure all your skin is covered, wear protective clothing, do not breath in and don't get on your enamel, (if this product will hurt the enamel on your stove, can you imagine what it will do to us.)

Air fresheners desensitize the nerves in your nose so you cannot smell. 1970 - NTA's were banned, 1980 Lobbying Proctor & Gamble brought back the use of NTA's in our products although they are extremely cancer causing. What are they used for? ONLY to make more suds in our laundry detergents so that you think your clothes are getting cleaner.

Our immune system is very powerful, like a janitorial system giving our bodies good nutrition means our body can repair itself and be able to handle what we face in the world. Household chemicals cause all kinds of problems that you would never suspect could be related to cleaning your home and clothes such as: cardiovascular problems, panic and anxiety attacks, and bedwetting.

Eliminating the cause of the environmental illness is more effective and much less expensive than treating the symptom.

Prevention - 80% - 90% effective

Treatments - 50% - 60% effective.

STROKE  IDENTIFICATION:



During a BBQ, a friend  stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was  fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick  because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new  plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went  about enjoying herself the rest of the afternoon. Ingrid's husband called later saying that his wife had been taken to the hospital and passed away. She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some stroke victims don't die; they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within three hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke . . . totally. He said the trick was having a stroke recognized, diagnosed and then getting the patient medically cared for within three hours, which is tough.
 
 
RECOGNIZING A STROKE:

Remember the "3" steps.
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

1  *Ask the individual to SMILE.
2  *Ask the person to TALK, to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE. (Coherently)  (i.e. . . It is sunny out today)

3  *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH  ARMS.

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.

If he or she has trouble with any one of these tasks, call 911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

 

 

 

The Deadly Effects of Erythromycin

A common antibiotic prescribed for 50 years to treat everything from strep throat to syphilis, dramatically increases the risk of cardiac arrest, especially when taken with certain newer, popular drugs, a study found.

 The study shows the need for continuing research on the safety of older medicines such as the widely prescribed drug, erythromycin, including how they interact with newer medicines.

 In patients taking erythromycin, along with other drugs that increase its concentration in the blood, the risk of cardiac death was more than five times greater…That translates to six deaths for every 10,000 people taking erythromycin for the typical two weeks while on the other drugs.

 Amoxicillin, another popular antibiotic, showed no cardiac risk.

We are seeing more and more drugs in the headlines that are found to be unsafe, some even being deadly. Sure, the article quotes experts saying that we shouldn’t use Erythromycin anymore, but who can guarantee that the alternate antibiotic won’t have devastating effects? It is estimated that over half of the drugs that receive market approval from the FDA have serious adverse effects not known prior to their approval.

 What is especially shocking about this discovery is the fact that Erythromycin is such a common and widely used drug. And it has been on the market for 50 years! Shocking as this may be, I have to tell you this isn’t the first time a long trusted, assumed to be safe drug was killing people.

 Another example is Fen-Phen. Phenfluromine was on the market for 24 years before it was discovered that is caused heart valve defects in a third of the people who were taking it. Many of them died. Very tragic – especially since these people were taking Fen-Phen to lose weight.

 I think on thing that’s important for all people to understand is that all drugs have some degree of adverse effects. Since we are all biologically different and unique, it is hard to predict exactly how any of us will react to a particular drug…

The danger of antibiotics

Simply put, antibiotics are poisons that are used to kill. Only licensed physicians can prescribe them. The drugs are used to kill bacteria. Certainly, many people have benefited from using them. However, if bacteria were the only organisms that antibiotics killed, much of this book would be unnecessary. In fact, I con­tend that poisons that kill small organisms in small doses -- organism-specific varieties notwithstanding -- can also kill big organisms, when they are taken in big doses. You, my friend, are a big organism.

We’ve talked about the link between fungus and human disease. This chapter addresses the possibility that antibiotics may help fungi to proliferate within the human body.

As an adult human, you have three to four pounds of beneficial bacteria and yeast living within your intestines. These microbes compete for nutrients from the food you eat. Usually, the strength in numbers beneficial bacteria enjoy both keeps the ever-present yeasts in check and causes them to produce nutrients such as the B vitamins.

However, every time you swallow antibiotics, you kill the beneficial bacteria within your intestines. When you do so, you upset the delicate balance of your intestinal terrain. Yeasts grow unchecked into large colonies and take over, in a condition called dysbiosis.

Yeasts are opportunistic organisms. This means that, as the intestinal bacteria die, yeasts thrive, especially when their dietary needs are met. They can use their tendrils, or hyphae, to literally poke holes through the lining of your intestinal wall. This results in a syndrome called leaky gut. Yeasts are not the only possible cause of this syndrome. Some scientists have linked non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) such as naproxen and ibuprofen to the problem. Given their ability to alter intestinal terrain, antibiotics also likely contribute to leaky gut syndrome.

In addition to possibly causing leaky gut syndrome, I believe that parasitic yeasts can also cause you to change what you eat in that they encourage you to binge on carbohydrates including pasta, bread, sugar, potatoes, etc. So, it should come as no surprise that weight gain counts as one of the telltale signs of antibiotic damage and subsequent yeast overgrowth.

By altering the normal terrain of the intestines, antibiotics can also make food allergies more likely. An array of intestinal disorders can ensue, as well. Sadly, most doctors claim ignorance concerning their patients’ intestinal disorders rather than admit that the drugs they themselves prescribed actually caused the disorders to begin with.

Tons of antibiotics are fed to American livestock on a daily basis, purportedly to proof them against bacteria. This practice not only possibly contributes to antibiotic resistance in humans -- many experts feel weight gain, and not disease prevention, is the real reason antibiotics are so widely used. YEAST OVERGROWTH- CANDIDA

Candida Albicans is a naturally occurring yeast and is among the many organisms that live in the mouth and gastrointestinal tract.

Candidiasis is an overgrowth of this yeast. Don't use antibacterial soap

 

The antibacterial agent triclosan, commonly used in certain soaps, is starting to appear in consumer products ranging from socks to toothpaste.

But research shows that under normal household conditions triclosan can react with chlorinated water to produce chloroform, a likely carcinogen.
An initial 2005 study showed that, in the laboratory, pure triclosan reacts with free chlorine to produce chloroform. More recently, follow-up studies on 16 products found that household goods containing triclosan produced either chloroform or other chlorinated byproducts. In some soaps, the triclosan degraded within one minute of exposure to chlorinated water at temperatures used for household cleaning.

I posted an alarming report two years ago about the dangers of using the chlorinated water that comes from your tap with antimicrobial soaps and cleaners containing triclosan. I am not surprised to learn those initial reports have been confirmed; products containing triclosan can produce the cancer-causing substance chloroform.
That is one of the benefits you get by reading this newsletter. It is very common that you'll be alerted of health issues YEARS before they become widely publicized in the traditional media.
So be alert because the average consumer has NO CLUE this is a problem. I see it all over. In the office building where my Web site is located, they use antibacterial soap so I had to explain to the building manager how crazy and unnecessary that was.

Antibacterial soaps are widespread in most commercial institutions. If you see it, be an activist and tell the manager. Show them the evidence and ask them to switch. No reason they need to poison the public so some company can make money and provide no benefit, only harm.
Because water temperatures, chlorination and the antibacterial products used can vary based on the locale, it's hard for scientists to predict the precise amount of chloroform to which you may be exposed. That said, the use of triclosan in some conditions can expand your exposure to
chloroform by as much as 40 percent.
But remember that even when triclosan does not degrade into chloroform, it's still dangerous in and of itself, because it enters the environment and eventually creates antibiotic-resistant germs.
It's surprising the problem still exists, considering even the highly conservative American Medical Association's very public slam against antibacterial soaps seven years ago, and undisputed evidence that nothing works better when it comes to hand-washing than plain soap and water, without the unnecessary toxic antibacterial chemicals.

 

Salt may affect more than blood pressure: study

Consuming less salt can not only lower blood pressure, but may reduce the risk of heart disease overall, researchers reported on Thursday.
They found that people with borderline-high blood pressure who reduced their sodium intake by 25 to 35 percent lowered their risk of total cardiovascular disease by 25 percent. And this lower risk lasted for 10 to 15 years.
Dr. Nancy Cook and colleagues at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston studied more than 3,000 people who took part in a study of a low-salt diet and its effects on high blood pressure.
Those who were assigned to a low-salt diet had a lower risk of all various kinds of cardiovascular disease even 10 to 15 years later, they report in the online version of the British Medical Journal.
They were also 20 percent less likely to have died than people assigned to a normal diet.
"Our study provides unique evidence that sodium reduction might prevent cardiovascular disease and should dispel any residual concern that sodium reduction might be harmful," they wrote.
Salt intake is clearly linked to high blood pressure and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, which paid for the study, recommends that Americans cut down on sodium.
More than 65 million U.S. adults -- one in three -- have unacceptably high blood pressure, above levels of 140/90, the NHLBI said. Another 59 million have prehypertension -- defined as blood pressure of 120/80 or above.
The average U.S. and British diets contain far more than the 2,300 mg daily recommended by the NHLBI and expert groups.
Cook's team said salt may affect artery and heart health by ways that go beyond blood pressure. Sodium may make blood vessels less able to expand and contract and may toughen heart cells, they said.

Seven Ways to Help Prevent Alzheimer's



Dementia is a progressive decline in mental ability, affecting memory, thinking, judgment, attention span, and learning. Although dementia usually develops after the age of 60, it is not a natural part of getting older.

The most common type of dementia results from Alzheimer’s disease. The exact cause of Alzheimer’s disease remains unclear, but the greatest known risk factor is increasing age - the chances of developing Alzheimer’s seems to double every five years after age 65. After age 85, the risk of developing Alzheimer’s is about 50 percent. Many researchers also suspect that genetics may play a role, as this disease seems to run in families and may be influenced by certain gene abnormalities.

To help lessen your risk of Alzheimer’s disease, try the following diet and lifestyle suggestions.

 

  1. Stay mentally active. Dr. Weil has long recommended crossword puzzles, educational games, and challenging books as good brain fuel. He also suggests learning a new language or a new computer program, as both create a sort of frustration in the brain that may strengthen existing neural connections and encourage new ones to develop.
     

  2. Get regular physical activity. The recommended 30 minutes a day on most days of the week gets the blood flowing throughout your body – including your brain – and can lessen the risk of inflammatory diseases linked to Alzheimer’s. Aim for moderate activity and do it regularly for best benefit. For an added punch, do something mentally stimulating during exercise, such as reciting the names of high school friends while cycling or singing songs while walking.
     

  3. Eat an anti-inflammatory diet. Omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants can reduce the risk of inflammation and promote a healthier body. Focus on plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and omega-3 rich foods such as walnuts, wild Alaskan salmon, and freshly ground flaxseed.

     

  4. Limit unhealthy saturated and trans fats, which may promote heart disease and inflammation, and replace them with heart-beneficial monounsaturated fat (such as olive oil). The Anti-Inflammatory Diet section offers plenty of recipes and checklists for simple, healthy shopping.
     

  5. Lower your risk of cardiovascular conditions, especially elevated blood pressure. It is the highest single risk factor for multi-infarct dementia. Diet and exercise are the best ways to manage your heart health. Consider anti-inflammatory drugs and supplements.

     

  6. Turmeric, the yellow spice in American mustard and Indian curry, can reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. This may help explain the unusually low incidence of Alzheimer’s in India, where people consume significant amounts of turmeric as part of their daily diet. A daily low-dose aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) may also reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Some vitamins may help as well. Dr. Weil and the Alzheimer’s Association both recommend vitamins E, C, and B12.

     

  7. Be healthy in all aspects of your life. Don’t smoke, drink only in moderation, stay socially involved, manage your stress, and try to have a positive attitude and outlook – all have been associated with a lowered risk of Alzheimer’s.

The Danger of MSG


MSG - used in Coffee - (read this for sure) please read this. It is startling!!

Food additive "MSG" is a Slow Poison. Slow Poisoning MSG hides behind 25 or more names, such as "Natural Flavoring".

MSG is also in your favorite Tim Horton's and other brand coffee shops! Pass this on to those who still may be unaware or disbelieving of the dangers of MSG. I wondered if there could be an actual chemical causing the massive obesity epidemic, so did a friend of mine, John Erb. He was a research assistant at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, and spent years working for the government. He made an amazing discovery while going through scientific journals for a book he was writing called "The Slow Poisoning of America". In hundreds of studies around the world, scientists were creating obese mice and rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies.

No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so the scientists have to
create them. They make these morbidly obese creatures by injecting them with MSG when they are first born. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates; causing rats (and humans?) to become obese. They even have a title for the fat rodents they create: "MSG-Treated Rats".

I was shocked too. I went to my kitchen, checking the cupboards and the fridge. MSG was in everything! The Campbell's soups, the Hostess Doritos, the Lays flavored potato chips, Top Ramen, Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper, Heinz canned gravy, Swanson frozen prepared meals, Kraft salad dressings, especially the 'healthy low fat' ones. The items that didn't have MSG marked on the product label had something called ''Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein'', which is just another name for Monosodium Glutamate. It was shocking to see just how many of the foods we feed our children everyday are filled with this stuff. They hide MSG under many different names in order to fool those who carefully read the ingredient list, so they don't catch on. (Other names for MSG: 'Accent' - 'Aginomoto' - 'Natural Meat Tenderizer,' etc.) But it didn't stop there.

When our family went out to eat, we started asking at the restaurants what menu items had MSG. Many employees, even the managers, swore they didn't use MSG. But when we ask for the ingredient list, which they grudgingly provided, sure enough MSG and Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein were everywhere. Burger King, McDonalds, Wendy's, Taco Bell, every restaurant, even the sit down ones like TGIF, Chilis,' Applebees and Denny's use MSG in abundance. Kentucky Fried Chicken seemed to be the WORST offender: MSG was in every chicken dish, salad dressing and gravy. No wonder I loved to eat that coating on the skin, their secret spice was MSG!

So why is MSG in so may of the foods we eat? Is it a preservative or a vitamin??

Not according to my friend John. In the book he wrote, an expose of the
food additive industry called "The Slow Poisoning of America" he said that MSG is added to food for the addictive effect it has on the human body.

The MSG manufacturers themselves admit that it addicts people to their
products. It makes people choose their product over others, and makes
people eat more of it than they would if MSG wasn't added.

Not only is MSG scientifically proven to cause obesity, it is an addictive substance! Since its introduction into the American food supply fifty years ago, MSG has been added in larger and larger doses to the pre-packaged meals, soups, snacks and fast foods we are tempted to eat everyday. The FDA has set no limits on how much of it can be added to food.

They claim it's safe to eat in any amount. Yes, that last study was not a typo, it WAS written in 1978.
Both the "medical research community" and "food manufacturers" have known about MSG's side effects for decades! Many more studies mentioned in John Erb's book link MSG to Diabetes, Migraines and headaches, Autism, ADHD and even Alzheimer's. But what can we do to stop the food manufactures from dumping fattening and addictive MSG into our food supply and causing the obesity epidemic we now see?

Even as you read this, G. W. Bush and his corporate supporters are pushing a Bill through Congress called the "Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act" also known as the "Cheeseburger Bill", this sweeping law bans anyone from suing food manufacturers, sellers and distributors. Government office, the official told him "Sure I know how bad MSG is, I
wouldn't touch the stuff!" But this top-level government official refused to tell the public what he knew.

The big media doesn't want to tell the public either, fearing legal issues with their advertisers. It seems that the fallout on fast food industry may hurt their profit margin. The food producers and restaurants have been addicting us to their products for years, and now we are paying the price for it. Our children should not be cursed with obesity caused by an addictive food additive. But what can I do about it?... I'm just one voice!

What can I do to stop the poisoning of our children, while our governments are insuring financial protection for the industry that is poisoning us! This e-mail is going out to everyone I know in an attempt to tell you the truth that the corporate owned politicians and media won't tell you.
